Problems with demo
« on: September 03, 2009, 08:16:47 AM »
Hi all...

I don't know if It's a software or a hardware issue. May be you can help me.

I'm trying to run the Spaceballs' State of the Art demo, with no success on my machines.
I tried It on those machines:

- A500+ (full ECS)(rev 8A) 1,5Mb chip ram, kickstart 1.3, no accelerator, no hd...
- A500 (full OCS) (rev 5)  1 Mb chip ram, kickstart 1.2, no accelerator, no hd...
- A600 (full ECS) (A300 board) 1Mb chip ram, kickstart 2.04 (I'm not sure about It now), no accelerator, 256 Mb SDCARD with a SD to IDE adapter as hd... (just before the machine died)

And It's always the same. The demo boots, and I can see the girl dancing, the flashing title, and the initial credits. Then, the machine freezes and the power led changes Its intensity on and off once per second. After some seconds, It reboots and shows a guru meditation...

Any clue?....

It runs fine on many configurations. Maybe its because of a faulty disk?

Hmmm...
I don't think so. I got the .adf file from many sources, even from the Spaceballs' official page, and I wrote It on many disks, including new ones. Always same result...
I also tried with 3 power supplies... no way...

It is extremely picky. I got it to run in WinUAE only by configuring it as a PAL A500 with 512K Chip & 512K fast.

I'm sure It's Ok. It runs on WinUAE (all of them).

If you run it under winuae, try the hd fixed version. This should work a little bit better than the .adf version.

Done... I 'dechipped' my expansion module, and now It works ok.
Now my A500 has 512Kb of "slow" and 512Kb of chip... funny, isn't it?
