I was using an RF cable to connect up to my TV, but this Amiga always has had an issue of flipping from colour to b/w, losing a little focus in the process, then fading the colour and focus back in again, over about a 30 second period.

It is also fine if I connect it up to a monitor via the video/RGB socket with an adapter I bought ages ago, however I just bought an RGB -> SCART adapter from amigakit.co.uk, and I can barely see anything on the screen at all.  When I switch on the Amiga, the screen changes to grey, I hear the Amiga booting up (HD), then when it is done, I can just make out the bar at the top of the Workbench screen saying 'Commodore Amiga..' etc.

I've tried booting off a floppy, same thing.

Help!

There isn't any standard of Scart connection. Every TV has a different pins to give some signals.

Have you tried composite input? It is worser than SCART RGB, but better than RF cable connection.

I had the same problem with C64 and RF cable and I bought a composite cable for my C64.

Which TV dou you own?

My TV is a Samsung SyncMaster 941 MW.

Yep, I just dug up a cable, and that works as you described.  I can see a bit of ghosting, but it works better than RF.

Surely if every TV implemented SCART differently, I wouldn't be able to hook up my N64 or my DVD player?

It's a JVC CRT TV btw.

The build quality doesn't seem great either... I've purchased two and both fell apart, the last one after only 24hrs use!

Might consider investing in the Indivision card, considering the accumulative cost of RGB cables.

@ Mikeymike

Akiko is right, the Indivsion card is the way to go ... you won't regret it! :)

Other solutions are an Internal S-video Adapter from DJBase or an External S-video Adapter form AmigaManic. I have them both.

One A1200 of mine has an internal S-Video adapter and Indivision FlickerFixer in it.

Now it's possible to use 5 display's at a time.

The reason that N64 and DVD player work on your TV is it use the right voltage of the Scart pins.

Maybe this one will work:

Have you contacted AmigaKit directly?
They are very very helpful with any post sales query.

Does your TV have more than one SCART input?  If yes, try the other one.

What you describe is what happens when you plug the cable in a socket that does not support RGB.  Most TV's only support RGB input on the first SCART socket.

Same thing could happen if there isn't the proper voltage on pin 16 of the SCART connector. It should be between 1 and 3 volts to tell the TV that the signal is RGB.

I'll try swapping SCART cables around on the TV.
