HAhahaha! :-)

Ok, so for £6,039.39 I could get myself this very site!!! Quite exciting!
If you want it -- and keep in mind that you'd have to cover the money changing fees to make my 10k USD, then just write me the check and I'll pay off my credit cards and be a very, very happy man.

Ah the Nigerian scams, I still get a message a day about a business proposal involving hundreds of thousands/millions of US Dollars.  I think they first appeared over a decade or two ago...

Oh, the the mispelled letter with bad grammar from the Federal Bureau of Investigations, it was a hoot the first time, but after the 30th it ceases to be funny.

As I'm US based, then yup... :)

No, I won't ship it to your in West Africa (reference craigslist scams)

No, I'd prefer not to give 12% to Paypal.. :)

Ummm. buddy?  The ADULT forums are on a more explicit site.  With whom you choose to "syndicate" falls under TMI...  :)

Seriously though, as I've said for years, the site could use some fresh blood.

I get the point, but the fact is that I spend more time running in the background around here than I have available to post any more.

Not that ANY of this has to do with the subject at hand, sorry to be OT.

On a serious note, based on that link, anyone want to write a 10k check for THIS Web site?  It's at least functional and has an audience...  :)

Wayne

I checked the value of Amiga.org using the linked site last night and it was only valued at half of your 10k asking price.  Did something happen recently to cause it to drop that much, or did it not really show a value of 10k the last time you checked it there?  Just curious about how that valuation site works and why there would be such a difference between then and now.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

The value of this website has halved ? I guess a lot of people realised that if bloodline takes over, there will be a membership requirement list as follows:

1. Must own Apple computer
2. Must own iPhone

The main reason I guess for the price difference is for all the blood, sweat and tears Wayne has put into getting this site where it is today.

10k for this place? Worth every penny, without a shadow of a doubt!

The site that you're referring to is a gimmick, nothing else.  While it reports a value for a domain, said value is only based on Alexa rank and what it sees as visitors based on traffic.  Where it gets those values, no one really knows.

What it doesn't take into account are more important variables such as;

- registered user base
- active web site?  (several spam domain search sites bring in millions of hits, so just counting traffic is irrelevant)
- the content on the web site
- the design, layout, and other work done on the site
- the loyalty of the installed user base
- any copyrights, copyrighted, or trademarked materials on the site.

In short, valuing a site may seem simple, and granted, ANY site is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, but anyone who even remotely suggests that there isn't $10,000 worth of inherent value in this 15 years worth of collected works we call Amiga.org simply doesn't know enough to appreciate the years of blood, sweat, and tears we've all (to some extent) put into it.
