I feel sorry for them and think this is very sad news.

What has Amiga Inc. done for you lately/ever?

Genuine question. I'm curious as to what you see worthwhile in them.

Why does anyone really care, anyways? I mean, besides Hyperion, as since this is a case won against Amino and that just makes their case against AI being insolvent more believable.

@Matt_H

they did as much for me as any other Amiga-related company lately.
excuse my ignorance, but hasn't Amiga brand been re-sold several times after Commodore?
So, Amiga Inc. were in bad position at the very beggining.

If they are in such problems then noone good will consider buying them and continuing the Amiga story.
Better sorry than worry.

When the current owners bought Amiga there was still an opportunity to do something with it. At that time there was still a large enough Amiga following that large publishers were still wiling to produce magazines and there was still a decent sized software market. By having these losers buy it, and do absolutley nothing with it appart from probably just use it to show off to friends, put the world in the position where Amiga has not really moved forward anywhere as much as it could have. I'm not saying it could have been put back to the market share it once had, but when you look at what Apple has achieved in recent years I can't help but wonder "what if".
Amiga 4000, Warp Engine 040/40MHz, CV643D with scan doubler module, Tocatta soundcard, Deneb, 72Meg fast ram, 18 gig scsi hard drive.

157,000 what the hell were they renting?

I remember an interview where Mcewen was giving a news guy a tour of their offices.  It sounded like a big building.

The had a foosball table and things to play when they weren't working.

Looks like they had a lot of equipment too, here's some items that were auctioned off:
http://www.murphyauctions.net/amiga.html

Here is some of the non-computer stuff... (inlcuding the foosball table!)
Quote

Assortment of UMAX & HP 4C scanners, D-LINK & LINKSYS hubs, LINKSYS DSL router, LIVINGSTON 2E & 3 switches, NEXSTATION web TV box, RCA combination TV/VCR, paper shredders, CARD SCAN 500 card scanner, POLYCOM SOUNDSTATION conference phone, SENTRY safe, lateral files, file cabinets, 2-door metal cabinets, drafting tables & chairs, whiteboards. bookcases, refrigerator, foosball table, misc. office supplies & much more!

Here is an interview with Mcewen (after they were kicked out and stuff auctioned off)
http://polarboing.com/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=24

He says, "We need to get a new office first and check it is big enough for a
foosball table."

Seems like they just sort of blew all their cash on stuff.  Never came out with a single product. (No I don't consider the "SnowMan" maker an actual product)
A3000D (16mhz, 2MB Chip, 4MB Fast, SCSI (300+MB), SuperGen Genlock, Kick 3.1)
Back in my day, we didn\'t have water. We only had Oxygen and Hydrogen, and we\'d just have to shove them together.

Royalties to Amiga Inc from Cloanto probably didn't cover half of Mc Ewen's cocaine bill.

@koaftder

While none of us here has much sympathy for the man, I think that message is out of order (and against the amiga.org TOS).

Not to mention the damage it could do to the reputation of cocaine!
