How do I format a HD under WB1.3?
« on: August 02, 2009, 11:07:06 PM »
Ok.  I have a StarBoard II w/ StarDrive SCSI controller on my A1000.  I've been piecing together the software.  I found the WB boot disk that the orig owner had, which refs stardrive.device in the mountlist in devs/.  Now - that mountlist is config'ed for another HD.  How do I...

1) Learn more about the HD I've got here?  Cylinders, etc.
2) Partition / format it under WB?

It seems that stardrive.device is in ROM as it's not on the boot floppy, but is ref'ed in the guy's mountlist.  I've got no StarDrive setup disk, sadly.  Must I have that to get this drive partitioned and formatted?

It's ~ 1GB HD.

Thanks.

I don't know if the 1.3 version of HDToolbox allows you to work with devices other than scsi.device, but try grabbing it off a 2091 install disk and see if it does.

You could try this program: http://mitglied.lycos.de/thomasrapp/getgeometry.lha

It was written for a completely different purpose, but it will give you the required information to adjust the mountlist, if the driver supports querying the drive size.
