Help needed getting my Amiga online with ADSL Modem Router

Hi all,
 I have recently got my A2000 all together and am ready to get it online, but what i am having problems with is trying to get the Quicknet2000 Ethernet card connect to my 3 in 1 D-Link DSL-G604T. I have used Miami and Genesis and chose the quicknet.device when setting it up but the Amiga does not show Under the DHCP Clients List of my router, there is no sign of the A2000 although upon powering up the A2000, the routers LAN Link/Act light comes on indicating that some sort of communication is going on with the Quicknet card. Is there anything special i have to do in order to have the Quicknet2000 work with my router. I thought that after installing the quicknet.device and configuring Miami or Genesis i would be online, but this has not happened. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have no experience with Miami, but Genesis has never seemed to work with DHCP for me.  Try specifying IP, Gateway, and DNS addresses in the Genesis configuration and then try putting it online.

That might be because Genesis doesn't have any DHCP support?

Under the routers DHCP Server setting, i can manually enter a Mac address and and ip address. How do i find out the Quicknets MAC and IP address? I was told to look for it under the routers DHCP client list, but that is not happening.

I've never had to enter a MAC address.

As for the IP, you can pick that yourself, if your router is 192.168.1.1 try using something like 192.168.1.88 or something that isn't already in use on the network.

Done this and Genesis said i was online, but i was still unable to browse the web, and the Amiga did not show under the routers DHCP client list.

Were you able to ping the router?  You're not going to show up in DHCP on the router no matter what you do, don't worry about that.

Is it possible that you have chosen a static IP address that's conflicting with another machine / piece of equipment on your network?

I used to use Genesis with AWeb on my (now sold) A1200 and it worked pretty well.  I don't remember having to do anything special with Genesis once it was configured though.

I can't remember if Genesis asks for a gateway address but if it does - make that your router's address (that was any packets sent will know how to come back).  You shouldn't need to specify DNS as that will be distributed by your router, but if you do need to - put your router's address in there too.
