Duke Nukem Shareware
« on: October 30, 2003, 05:33:56 AM »
Hey, if anyone's interested, here's a link for Duke Nukem. It's a shareware version that I modified so it would run using Dante's Duke3D port. The exe is included and it works.

Duke3DShare

Here's the readme:

Duke3DShare.readme

Enjoy! :-D

[EDIT] Okay....I don't know why the links don't work, but they're there....

Yah! I was getting around 60fps on my Amithlon box. I love that game, but I know how hard it is to find now, so I thought I'd give back to the Amiga community. :-D

I fixed your links. Can't use HTML in posts. Linking in URLs is done :
 My Link
with no spaces.( had to put spaces around the =, in order to have it show)

Kudos and thanks. I'll have to try this out after I get some ZZzzzs.

@Gav

Right... quickest way to do this is:

1. Press right amiga and e at the same time to bring up the execute command box.

2. in it type "ed s:user-startup". Your user-startup will load up in ed.

3. At the end of the user-startup on a new line add: "assign Duke3D: misc:duke3dshare/"

4. once thats done save your user-startup. quickest way to do this is press the esc key then press x followed by return. That will save and exit ed.. very handy. If not you can do it under the right mouse button menu.

5. thats it... to activate the assign a reboot will be needed.

You can however do a temp assign by typing in the assign line above directly into the execute command box.

did they only release the source code of the shareware version of the game?
surely thats the same version as the full one, only cut down.

Anyone know what engine they used for Max Payne?
I saw some info on a Prey Engine, but looked pretty old. Quake1 standard.

@Mantisspider

the source code is for Duke Atomic, which is version 1.5. The shareware version is 1.3b, but I hacked the con files so they were compatible with 1.5.

The way I see it, it's VERY hard to find Duke anymore, so I released the shareware version after I tested it and it worked.

If you can find it, it's in the bargain bins, so I suggest you get it as soon as you can.

Dante told me that he's planning on adding midi support, so I'll be adding updates to Aminet when he releases them.

As for the TC's, I haven't tested them, but I will on my Miggy. If they work, I'll let ya know.
