OS4 on A1200 BPPC
« on: October 28, 2003, 11:39:10 PM »
Will they definately be making OS4 runable on an A1200 with a BPPC?  Also how much would it cost, will it be like the other OSs and be around £30 or are we looking at something that's a lot more expensive this time?

GiGa

So Hyperion say... It'll be after the CSPPC and A1, though.

MacOS X 10.2 - £92.82
Windows XP Home Edition, Full version - £164.50

Umm... ? ;-)

Edit: Oh wait.. i just noticed you said "THE other OSs", not "other OSs"... so I guess you mean 3.5 and 3.9? In which case, sorry, I got the wrong end of the stick :-)

This might be Off Topic, but who knows, maybe the latest version of MorphOS (**including** a second hand Pegasos 1 motherboard with a G3 @ 600 MHz CPU card) might be available for only about €99 in a not so distant future ...

 :-o  :-D
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

well I doubt its going to be as cheap as the other OS upgrades... but at the same time I cant see it costing as much as MacOS and window's... Id guess at £60, but I really have no idea :-)

IIRC .. it's about 70 Euros on some Amiga resellers.. Otoh.. they have had those prices there for ayear, so I can't tell if they are accurate.

For the sake of balance, I note that Genesi are releasing thier lastest version of MorphOS for the Blizzard for free...

To all intents and purposes, that would do the same thing as OS4 on a Blizzard.

And If anyone has the spare time, they could port AROS to the Blizzard (but since AROS currently lacks a 68k EMU it's not as usefull as OS4 or MOS would be on the Blizzard).

bloodline:well their os is free for several reasons! , and since one is doeing it , does that make the whole world to do so? , just for the balance?

thats maybe the lamest arguement i have ever heard.

as a last note , the os4 on the bppc will be the hardest version of os4 on any plattform! , price was aimed at about 70 euro indeed at the websites , but heh thats a while ago and its still speculation as there is no os4 out yet.
Whats up with all the hate!

I'm fed up with your Anti this, anti that rant, don't be such a spod!

If Genesi (or anyone) produce a free product for Blizzard users, then it's important that Blizzard users hear about it, since it can only benefit them.

If the user tries it and find it forefills their needs, and it's free, what harm has been done.

Oh, and don't bother entering into such discussions when you know nothing about MorphOS, or OS4 for that matter.

Lempkee,

You aren't the only one who reasons in terms of what is important to Hyperion.  I guess its a kind of top down approach.

However, it is what is important to the users that is important.  Hyperion may have all the reasons in the world why OS4 should cost a lot, but if it it costs more than people are willing to pay, then they will just have a lot of good reasons, but no sales.

OS 4 has to be reasonably priced, to be competitive.
I'm not making it true, it just is true.

Only their most loyal followers will accept excuses over results.  They must do better, if they want to reach a wider audience, and certainly, if they don't feel competitive pressure from Genesi, then they are making a mistake, because they do have a competitor.

Well, I dunno about you lot but if Genesi want to chuck me a free MOS for blizzPPC thats up to them. Since I have my own nefarious ambitions in the cross platform arena I'm happy to take it. I am still going to buy OS4, irrespective of that...*evil grin*
