i bought a cf to ide adaptor for my 1200. when i got it it had two spots one on the top and one underneath for cf cards. i installed a one gig card in the top and left the bottom mty.
well it did not work. first can i use this adaptor or must i instsall another cf card underneath. second if two cf cards are needed must they be the same size.? any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Is there any jumpers to set? I would think that the top one would be master and bottom would be slave, and one position would be master only.
Other than that I think, IIRC the A1200 can only recognize one IDE device. you may need a IDE buffered header, Amigakit sells a few different ones. The best one looks like the IDE fix express for the A1200, it lets you add up to 8 devices (not sure if its all at once).
I have Amiga stuff for sale at http://amigalounge.com. You can follow my builds there also.

The A1200 has a full-featured IDE port which can handle up to two devices (master and slave). The buffered interface gives you another two, so you can use a total of four drives.

The Powerflyer and the IDEfix-Express do allow "only" four drives, too, just faster than the simple buffered splitter.

well it did not work.

Why the CF adapter does not work can have several reasons. "Did not work" is not an adequate error description as well as "CF adapter with two slots" is not a sufficient description of the device. If help is wanted, we need much more detailed information.
