SyQuest 270mb and a Collection of hardware found
« on: October 28, 2003, 04:52:36 AM »
Hi Guys,

I found an internal IDE SyQuest 270mb Drive (and an old 270mb disk)
an internal LS120 drive and disks
a catweasel floppy drive controler thing
a collection of floppy drives,
a harddrive
a flickerfixer, looks like a an old modulator but has a svga socket on the back
and an amiga 500 modulator

my question is, how much use is the SyQuest drive and the LS120 drive on my amiga? Do I still need a catweasel for an amiga 1200? I remember that my amiga in a tower doesnt seem 2 use one so i have no idea why i have it.

All these gear is unused... its amazing what you find when you clear up old space.

:-D

OH MY GOD!
i found original invoices for this stuff:
Apollo 1240 68040/40mhz
32MB RAM 8x32 BIT 72PIN
Catweasel MK2 controller
4.3GB IDE Harddrive
36x CD-ROM

even the manuals for the LS120 drive and the Apollo.
The catweasel is even its its box with its cables and manual. WOW THIS IS FREAKY! its like going back in time. okay albeit only 6 years.

i was hoping it would be a 68040/40 accelerator, so i would have 2 of them.

seeing as i cant remember where this A1200 came from, i cant complain. it had a Hard drive inside and was in full working order. how bizare.

does the 8mb FPU do any noticable benefit to games and running workbench? i feel so let down by it not being another 68040/40

Well, the additional 8MB fastram will benefit any bog-standard machine, although not nearly as much as an 040 would. The FPU won't speed up general Workbench tasks at all, it's only needed for things like 3D rendering, specialist tasks like that.
