I have a plain A1200, and I want to put a harddisk in it
what kind of harddisks fit in an A1200 (IDE, SCSI, PCMCIA)?

A 2.5" IDE hard disk fits in nicely and works with the built-in controller. A 3.5" also sort of fits, but you'll need to remove the metal frame that is meant to hold the smaller hd.

Or mount the drive in-place of the internal floppy, and hack yourself up a 44 -> 40 pin data cable.  :-D
