Tetris is 25 years old
« on: June 03, 2009, 05:54:38 AM »
A quarter century of frustration. 8) Since there's 105 versions on Aminet, I was wondering which is your favorite, and if you still play. I first saw the arcade version in Hong Kong if I remember, in a massive room.

My fave version a long time ago was called Welltris.
Amiga 3000D UP and running! Hear that clicking. 8)
Amiga 3000D & 4000D in storage sadly.

Pacman is the ubiquitous classic :hammer: I thought Tetris was too spartan.

Well, I have a lot of favorite Tetris, depending on platform...

This goes from my overall favorites down...
Wii: Tetris Party (really, if you have a Wii, there is no excuse for not getting this WiiWare.  Everything you could ever want in a Tetris.  PM me and we can exchange friend codes!)
Gameboy: Tetris (the classic...)
B&W Mac: Tetris (Spectrum Holobyte)
C64: Tetris (Mirrorsoft - the same one Itix mentioned)
PC: Multris (the older one by this name...  sometimes has difficulties running on newer systems)
AGA Amiga: Tetris Duel AGA (I believe it was... had lots of crazy weapons in 2 player mode)
ECS Amiga: Tetris (I don't remember if it was the Infogrames or Mirrorsoft version that was the good one.)

My favourite version is the 1986 original port for MS-DOS by Vadim Gerasimov, I still have all the 10 best scores there, with the first place being still mine at 11.000 or something points :)

My first one was for my gameboy which I got (begged for) from my father when I was 14-16 years old and had just undergone a surgery on my damaged knee due to my skating-mania.
I have been lazy but I really need to setup an emulator soon now :)
I have spoken !

I always hated Tetris. I could never understand why it was so popular.

I hated PacMan, Space Invaders and the original Donkey Kong and Mario Brothers too.
