AmigaDE, D.O.D, and Homeland Security

The IT budget of US Department of Defense (D.O.D.) / US Military is more than US$ 26 Billion. The new department of Homeland Security also have a large budget.

Is it possible to use AmigaDE for various military applications, especially rugged portable device?

Amiga DE have advantage on portability and the same program can be used on various devices. This will reduce the cost of training the Military staff / soldiers and reduce the cost of porting the software to new hardware / gadget. AmigaDE also have realtime OS/ guaranteed response capability.

LaunchPower, an IT Venture Capital company is looking for new products for military / D.O.D. / Homeland securiy.  Is it possible for LaunchPower to invest in Amiga Inc?

DoD wants something done they have enough money to code something better then DE... and there is OpenGL for all OS's... why use DE?... I dunno Asian1 thats pretty far out ideas

Well yes I agree. The Amiga should be a force for good. We want money, but its not worth lives!

As messed up as the US Government is, you want them using/meddling with Amigas?  We are just getting back on the right road.

That kind of mentality is likely to be the total death of us... believe me.. I speak from experience.

Military PDA + Translator

Perhaps in the future US Military may use AmigaDE based PDA. Because of its portability, the same translator program can be used on various device.

Also with Asymmetric Multi Processing capability, the PDA can take over the control / add processing / communication capability of various tank / military vehicle, in case the onboard computers are disabled / damaged.

Durring the 80's the C64 was in regular use as a military weapon. It was perfect as a rugged combat computer.

The PDA thing is something I have been thinking about, there are lots of companies building such devices. I have some concerns about carring such things into combat.  Increasing the potential of badguys getting hold of the device and it's content.  A way to make it self distruct, if the user gets killed,  would put me more at ease. To jepordize the mission or other team members lives for a PDA Hmmm!
