PNG-icons
« on: October 25, 2003, 08:29:41 PM »
I'm using image2icon to convert picture-files to icons. Now I started to use Powericons, so it would be nice if I could convert pictures to PNG-icons.

Is there any program, that can do that? :-?

Thank you, nice to be here :-)

But... I know that PNG-icons are PNG-images. What I want is: program that leaves app-icon on WB so that I can drop image-files to it, scales size smaller, convert it to PNG and names it picturefile.info.

...and I know my english isn't perfect, hope you understand

but if I want icons to, let's say, hundred images?

I'm been using ImageStudio for single files, but it's so slow...

Just mailed to image2icon-programmer, if he could make update.

How is it possible that AmigaOS can suddendly have 32bit icons, when everyone have screemed about that AmigaOS is limited to 256 color icons.

Why have no one thinked of this before? :)

lol i don't know about all these alpha channels etc, but i know that Macromedia Fireworks is highly compatible with .png images, so just get a trial of that and fiddle about, it's quite powerful too... :-)

then you could save it as a format which is friendly to pc-amiga crossing...

@AmiDelf

Dear AmiDelf, why don't you think twice, before saying . . . ?

Amiga Icons have max 256 colors BUT those PNG icons, aren't AmigaIcons, understood?

Thanks to the PowerIcons patch, it is possible (only on 16-24 bit screen), to use the PNG icons even at 32 bit (24 bit + 8 bit of AlphaChannel used for trasparency).

Understood?

Ciao!

There's a configurable drop icon that can trigger other programs (not a clue what the name is) but that with a quick Arexx script & netpbm (A collection of small single/simple function graphics utils) would do the job. making the size configurable & identifing the dropped image type would be the biggest probs...

...but not that much of a problem.
