That A4000Di Mediator is a tempting upgrade.

Does anyone know if it will give a significant improvement in my system using a Radion card over my Cybervision 643D?

Off the top of my head I can't think of any other PCI cards I'd add as I have a Deneb installed for USB 2.0 and native Amiga sound is OK with me.

I bought in a similar promotion last year. Very good delivery and packaging. Recommended.

@ Lorraine:

Yeah, I was thinking that it was probably not worth the effort unless some new drivers come along for additional devices.

I guess it would have been if I didn't already have the Cybervision card.  I use RTG screens for web surfing and the existing card does a good job.

I thought I'd check to see if the ROM upgrade for my FastATA4000 might have had free shipping, but they've stopped the upgrade completely.

Oh well, that's another $50 they're not getting.

Dragon?
Shark?
eFlash 1200?
MPEG decoder drivers?
Elbox USB Stack?
Mediator USB drivers for OS 4.x Sirion Stack?

Pick one...

@Darrin

if you already own a CV3D and a Deneb I think you are well served.

If you really want to use very high resolutions like 1920x1200 with lots of colours and use lots of screens and notice a lot of lag when switching screens then a Mediator4000 may come handy if you fit a Voodoo3 or -even better if you don't use Warp3D- a Radeon.

If you use a small monitor with screensizes of 1280x1024 or lower a CV3D could be enough.

The only point I don't like about PCI solutions is that there are not high-quality automatic monitor switchers. Switching using an electronic monitor switcher is not as bad but automatic switching is soooo comfortable :-)

@ Crumb:

Thanks for that.  I decided to use the money and upgrade my CPU card to a 40MHz 68040 with 64MB RAM instead.   :-)

I'm still waiting for my upgrade kit (chips only) for the Zorro FastATA Mk-III to Mk-V that handles PIO-5.  I ordered it over a month & ½ ago shortly before the September 12th deadline, paid an exorbitant amount for shipping (around US$35), which you really don't know about until you actually commit to ordering the product, and still am awaiting its delivery.  A new one would've been about US$20 or so dollars more.  I'm going to write to Elbox later today.  I wisht that the shipping was as fast as they deducted their charges on my credit card. :pissed: :madashell:

I know what you mean.  I cancelled my order once I saw that BS shipping price!  There was no way I was going to give Elbox nearly $80 to upgrade a product I had bought new just a couple of months previously.

It's amazing that they can mail a big, heavy mediator for free, but can't send loyal customers a couple of ROM chips without demanding 3 chickens, a goat and their first born son.   :madashell:
