Commodore 64 news featured on CNN.com
« on: December 08, 2007, 01:59:28 PM »
The Amiga's grandfather, the Commodore 64, has received quite a write up on CNN.COM!

CNN.COM has several fairly positive articles on old C64. This was featured on the homepage yesterday. Some of the details are debatable, but overall a good read.
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

I jus got my 64 some months ago. Unfortunately it has a bad PLA and I'm trying to fix it. No hurry, I've waited 20 years to have one....  :-D

It's funny to see it declared as Amiga's Grandfather. The Amiga is closer to the Atari 800 than the 64.

Um, if you really want.  All I did was have it play scales.  Remembering all those PEEK and POKEs again.

And I used to.

My first REAL ambitious programming project was on the C64.  It's something to brag about to this day.

But, if the C64 is the Amiga's grandfather, does that make the Bender the Amiga's 6502 based brother?

I hate to say it but my only programming experience was with my basic cartiridge on my Atari 800.

I programmed a full fledged text game in the spirt of the "chose your own adventure novel" kind of thing.

I even did a full graphic intro screen if I remember correctly?

Saved to cassette tape so I'm sure its lost forever....

Great Article and just as a side note someone over on the CNN site posted a link to a very cool Chuck Peddle interview on youtube Blog site with Youtube link

If you've read On The Edge you probably already know a good portion of the history he discusses but it is still well worth watching :-)

If I had my way it would be, I've suggested such an idea to Wayne a few times. Unfortunately he's turned me down each time  ;-)

I wouldn't be too negative, my CPC tapes still work fine and I've many tapes which have outlived some CD's of mine.
