Back in my day, we didn\'t have water. We only had Oxygen and Hydrogen, and we\'d just have to shove them together.

I want OS4 but I don't have a PPC card for my A1200T (Elbox Power Tower with Elbox Mediator). I currently use an Apollo 1260.

I hope Elbox reads this and releases a new PPC card for A1200T computers.
Wanna try a wonderfull strategy game with lots of handdrawn anims,

Agreed.

Instead of dragging out this Dragon thing they really should be putting all their time and efforts into making a BlizzardPPC clone!

The reason for this? Hyperion's OS4 team have done a lot of the hard work for them.

OS4 Classic is compatible with:

-- Mediator 1200/4000
-- FastATA 1200/4000
-- PCI Cards for Graphics, Sound and Ethernet
-- Cocolino lol

The way I see it Hyperion have thrown them a bone here.

Along with their D-Box tower and the hardware metioned above, all they have to do is get their hands on some refurbished/NOS A1200 motherboards and they could effectively sell complete OS4 systems without any legal/licensing issues.

Well if they actually managed to make a BlizzardPPC clone that is.

The only thing missing for Elbox is USB which the Subway would be good for on an A1200.

Edit: I've just noticed on the compatibility list that there doesn't appear to be any mention of PCI network cards working on the Mediator 1200. It's odd though because I was certain it was mentioned somewhere that old 10Mbit ones would work.

Just because something isn't mentioned on the list doesn't mean it doesn't work. Realtek 8029 in Mediator 1200 *should* work, but it doesn't appear that it has been tested at this time.

@lou_dias

Although it probably could be used with less than 64MB I wouldn't touch it with less than 96. I think that 128MB is more or less comfortable and if you own a BlizzardPPC on an A1200Tower you could fit even 256MB...

@Fixer

Recreating BPPC/CSPPC cards is a waste of time, I'll tell you why.

1  Rumour has it that you don't need a licence from Amiga Inc to do an OS4 port to classic expansion cards.

2  The SharkPPC is a classic Amiga expansion.

3  Elbox say the SharkPPC will work with the Dragon.

4  The Dragon has a CPU card slot, who says it has to have a Coldfire on the CPU card.

5  The Dragon has FPGA's on the board.

6  The Dragon can run standalone.  It was mentioned that Elbox intended to sell it standalone as Coldfire development system.

7  Minimig is open source.

If point 1 is true, you can take points 2-7 and formulate a plan.

Here's how the plan goes.

Elbox hand Hyperion some SharKPPC samples and 25,000 Euro.

Elbox release SharkPPC with OS4 for existing and future Mediator owners.

Elbox release the Dragon with the option of a Minimig CPU card instead of a Coldfire, or maybe even incorporate it onto the mainboard.

Now all you have to do is buy a Dragon + SharkPPC and you have brand new hardware that runs OS4.

:-? This is frustrating.  I've followed the links here and at AmigaWorld, and nothing links to anyone who sells it now.  All of them have availability dates a few days in the future, except this one.

:-( It says "Availability: starting from 30 November 2007," but there is no link to actually buy the silly thing!  I've got a debit card in my wallet, but appartently no need to dig it out yet....

I've a feeling this is the first and only release we'll see of it.
