This is getting way out of hand (as usual), wait till the damn product is actually in your hands before making carrot dangling announcements, if this does not appear on that date your going to look like fools.

Come on troika/ack, make an announcement while the blind are out in full force.

@Pyromania

The dancing banana means that you got a few copies at the show, right?  ;-)

Either way, I think it all means that in 2 weeks, the price of PPC cards will go up.

If that is the case then what kind of people complain about free giveaway contests?

We're clebrating Release of an operating system for an orphaned machine, that will only run on a super-specialty accelerator card that maybee sold a few thousand units.

I bought a CSPPC in 98 and had a great time with it. At the time of purchase I didn't imagine it would take almost 10 years to get a version of AmigOS ported to it. I sold it back in 1995 for $50 more than it's original purchase price.

Absolute insanity.... :crazy:

Cool stuff...

I'm sure 10 lucky people will be very happy.

Too bad many people, including myself, won't be able to take advantage.

Go DiscreetFX, and continue to be supportive!

Exactly, maybe if they release a version that runs on PowerPC macintosh models (that nowadays are dirty cheap) we can celebrate, because this is not the birth of a new operative system, but the raising of an undead ... just in time for hallowen  :-o

@ACK_h8r

Do you ever have anything constructive to say? We've all suffered our share of Amiga-related heartache--I'm not too fond of Elbox, for example--but Bill is just being enthusiastic. I gathered from speaking to him briefly this afternoon that he's just as excited as any of us to see OS4 released for classic hardware.

Frankly, after visiting AmiWest today and seeing what I perceived as particularly poor attendance--though I hear AmigaKit did rather well--I applaud any professional who continues to stand by the platform, especially given its dismal financial outlook.

Releasing a version of Amiga OS that runs on a MAC or a certain revision of mac like the SawtoothG4 or digital Auido G4 (hell even beige the G3 I threw in the trash last year) would make sense...as these machines are readily avaiable worldwide on any given sunday at the local computer show/ flea market.

Folks give these away, universities throw them out.. off lease machines are everywhere.

The thought of sourcing a CSPPC & paying $200 more than the price I paid almost 10 years ago ($800-$1000) makes zero sense. Especially when there are ?millions? of G4's out there that would possibly run the software.

I guess that would kill any potential sales of any ACK motherboards.

I believe there are Amiga-Mac transplants, even just hardcore mac guys that would tinker with AmigaOS4 if it ran on their spare PPC Mac, or God forbid a PS3.

If I still had the CSPPC I'd be happy, and it's a nod to all those Amigans that hung in there with the platform so still a good move.

It's just painfull knowing that there are G4Macs being scrapped that could run Amiga os4.

I know I know ! I can still source a G4 MacBook laptop from Currys for a not unreasonable amount - I could have OS4 on the move !
but .... (and its a biggun) to port a commercial (ie people pay for it) OS to this hardware, requires that Apple be happy for it to go on, and access to their hardware docs. bear in mind that Linux was essentially 'hacked' onto that hardware, and its a free OS.
do we really need another litigation ? that would surely nail OS4, Amiga Inc and Hyperion.

just my 4 penn'orth.
