LOL The Gods must be Crazy!

Sorry man, I was talking abit of Greek there.

Yeah, the C64 keystrokes are shorter, I prefer the feel of the Amiga keyboard moreso than the C64 one. You reckon that any PC repairer would be able to repair it?

Well I just tried roughening up both keys a little, cleaned them, but still nothing. Unless I have done something wrong or not adequately, I gather that the circuitry is broke. Looks like I gotta get a new keyboard thingy. But how would that nine-pin connector thing fit on to an A4000 from the A1200 spare keypad as Kronos suggested?

Just to be sure that the green circuitry foil is broke (even though might be repaired), try to exchange the conductive pads with other functioning keys. I know it's a pain in the ### (30 tiny screws on the back of the KB) but you should try this. A quick test of the keys is on the "Early Startup Menu", by pressing one key after another: if the key is OK the mode changes from Pal to NTSC.

You may also find me on GrNET (eu.irc.gr, gr.irc.gr or http://www.irc.gr for more info), #AmigaHellas ;-)

@Bodie_Cl5

There are basicly 2 kinds of Amiga-KBDs (not counting those on A1000,A2000A and A600).

1)Contacts and KBD-CPU on one PCB, those came with the A2000, A3000 and early A4000.
There is also a version with 2 LEDs which was used in A500(+), another cheap source
for spares.

2) Contact-foils,ending in  a ~20 "pin" foil-plug. Those came with the A1200 and newer
A4000 (only Escom ?). The KBD-CPU is either on the mobo (A1200) or on a small
PCB inside the KBD (A4000). These foils can be changed, but the A1200-version
has a longer "plug", so that might proove a a bit harder.

I also heard of some A500s having a foil-KBD, with the CPU-PCB.
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

Thanx Kronos (I hope you realise we are brothers :-D , me and CI5 that is, not me and you :-D ). We know someone with an old A500 who no longer uses it due to some problem, so we may take that apart and butcher what we want from it.

@thread
Thx to all for your comments :-)

 :lol: There are more Greek Amiga users in foreign forums than they are in Greece. Anyway, it's good to know there are a few of us here and there. I have been trying to find some techies over here to discuss about Amiga h/w repairs but had no luck. I only found the ex-commodore technician and I had to beg to get my A4k for repair.... Still waiting for a battery to replace the existing one (leaked as usual) and fix my audio problem too. Ypomoni!!!
