The city of Kent dumped tech company Amiga as naming-rights sponsor for the city's planned hockey arena after the company failed to deliver a promised down payment Monday.

Amiga was supposed to pay $2.5 million by 5 p.m. to secure the $10 million, 20-year naming-rights deal for what would have been called The Amiga Center at Kent.

I guess this means the City of Kent have saved themselves from the Amgia curse.

I don't think 20 questions will be enough to answer the needs of Amiga users. Actions speak louder than words and at this point in time AIncs actions scream out ...."WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WE'RE DOING."

It's looking better for Hyperion by the day.

This whole deal was just dumb from the start. If Amiga even had 2.5 million why would they spend it on something like this?

They dont even have any products or services to sell at this point except some PDA games?

What the hell have they been doing for 10 years?

Headline might as well have been "In a move that shocks no-one, Amiga again defaults on a payment they don't appear to have."

Well, let's see.

1) They have the AmigaDE/AmigaAnywhere, except that as already noted here, TAO group (the supplier of the actual code for this) went down the creek of bankruptcy.

2) They have the AmigaOS 4.0 sales.  Errr... Except it's not actually for sale, and is tied up in lawsuits.

3) They have the revenue from Amiga PDA games.  Except that those were written by independent coders, and Amiga only gets a small cut of that.  And future games look unlikely due to the problems in (1).

Of course, take heart, Amigans.... The "Mystery Investors" will come bail them out.

Cities are corporations, they can and do go bankrupt. Some years ago, New York City was on the verge and had to have the Federal Government guarentee loans to bail them out of their financial crisis.

Amiga Inc is an outsourcing company, they outsource American projects to India.  They are a Microsoft shop and do dotNet.  The AmigaOS, Amiga Everywhere, etc are just a fantasy, they could have had AmigaDOS for an additional $7000, but they can't even come up with that and would rather time the whole thing up in court.

The future of the Amiga is
1) Minimig for classic hardware
2) Morphos and Efika for updated classic hardware
3) AROS for industry standard hardware

Can we finally put AmigaINC to bed?
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

What we\'re witnessing is the sad, lonely crowing of that last, doomed cock.

That is the dumbest, most expensive way to advertise...

 WHY?!?!?!!?

Seriously, if Amiga wants to get there name out there, they should release a product...

Although it would take alot of work to bring AROS68K back into active developement stage, AROS will eventually be running on EFIKA.

Maybe Amiga's lawyers should take notice and look for clients elsewhere, they will probably get stiffed too.
