@guru-666:

Now the most positive scenario is that Hyperion had already ported OS4 over to this hardware before the court-case ;-). Afterall, I once read on the OS4 site of Hyperion that it would be easy to port the OS to other hardware (as long as you brought the bucks and the license).

Remember that this is a full computer and not just a mobo or a accelerator. I have seen people pay out of their teeth just for a accelerator and this system is actually pretty modern even compared with x86 in my opinion.

I myself though would have a hard time affording this one yet and will probably end up buying the entry level providing that it actually ends up being released and runs OS4.

*if* this materialises into an actual product with OS4, and *if* its available at the same price in the UK (IE, £750 instead of £1500), then I'll buy one. Oh yes indeedy.

So now i guess i'll just wait and see...

me too - although its more like 800 snots in a direct exchange rate (rough) calculation...
if its for 900 quid (taking VAT into consideration etc) I'm up for it !

I can.

And I'm certainly far better off now than when I paid over US$3000 for my BAREBONESEscom/Quikpak A4000T plus goodies ($500 PicassoIV, $300 DelfinaPlus, etc) to put into it when I was a poor college student. I didn't buy a hard drive or other certain things as I transferred a lot out of my 2000 into the 4000T. For a high-end Amiga, this honestly doesn't sound that bad in comparison to historical high-end Amiga systems. I see it as half price of back then, and that's before thinking about inflation since then.

For people who have purchased new (not used) big-box Amigas in the past, how much did you pay?

@billt

It doesn't answer the question, however.

Anyhow, just grabbed ASUS P5B-E, Intel® Core(TM)2 Duo E6320, 2 x 1GB PC2-6400, passively cooled NVIDIA 7600 GT, 320GB SATA2 HDD, DVD+RW + stuff for around 600 eur. Running at 2.8GHz (those core2 chips overclock like mad :-)) this rig will take care of my dualcore needs for a while...
