POP, PUFF, AND GOODBY A3000
« on: October 20, 2003, 09:25:21 PM »
Installing new psu, it wouldn't light up.  So plugged in elements one at a time.  Something popped; there was a puff of smoke and my wonderful Amiga died.  I have a Mediator Mirage and I might have bumped my Cybergraphx board so that it contacted my DKB 3128.

I can't fix it.  I live in West Los Angeles.  Anyone nearby that would like to give it a try for $?

Thanks,

Jon Byk    :-(

Sad, but probably the only sensible course of action.

I'd look at it but I am in Florida.

Off the top of my head look at the back of the motherboard toward the rear of the case. The A3000 has tiny motherboard fuses that may have popped. They are small and look like resistors(blue IIRC). Look for anything burnt at all.

Does the power supply still spin? If nothing else A3000s go for cheap on eBay.
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

Thanks for the reply.  I'll look.  Have you thought of moving someplace warm and dry?

Send it to me,  cards and all :-D  :-D

I hope you can get it up and running. A3000 are easier to fix than some so there is hope. It could be the daughter card. the 3000 will not run without one. Check it for evidence of burn.
