what tarrifs? they already got paid on imported items external to eu, I'm presuming the spider is just a generic card with a new sticker on it.

as for VAT, I've been told in netherlands it's generally 19.5%, meanwhile in the sunny uk it's 17.5%

so, keeping it in dollars,
63.5 + 17.5% = 74.65 uk
63.5 + 19.5% = 75.88 nl

and no doubt a similar picture for other eu nations.

neither of these sums amount to 81.45 USD, and on the site, VAT is specified as being included in the price.

I'm not making any accusations or claims here and companies can charge whatever they like for their goods.

I just found the comment interesting, I'll go back to lurking now.
(then I get told it's 19% in nl.. oh well lurk time )
I\'m back and I brought bacon.

The prices on Elbox's web site aren't usually accurate. You aren't told the actual price until you're sent to PolCard's billing system. The price you're given is in zlotych (PLN) based on PolCard's current conversion rate, which isn't always accurate. Today, it looks like PolCard's conversion rates are good (be sure to check the Wall Street Journal, xe.com, or some other source to be sure), so now's the time to buy if you're interested. (But don't spend 64USD on a useless, rebranded USB card. That would be stupid.)

EDIT: Hehehe. This is on PolCard's web site: "Every second outlet accepting payment cards in Poland cooperates with POLCARD." I think they need a new translator. Makes it sound like they'll send someone 'round to your house to break your legs if you don't "cooperate."

That sounds like a good explanation of the situation

also "Mr Polcard 'strongly encourages' you to use his service that he has kindly provided" hehe :D

ok, I'm just gonna say that's unfair! I didn't know Chris' intention of stopping support for spiders when I ordered it! That's why he didn't respond to my pmail about it it seems....I feel I'm getting punished for still supporting miggy by buying hardware and legal software....I'm not saying Elbox are saints, cuz they're not, rdb-trashing code, "proprietary" NEC cheap cards sold for 64euros and all....but if Chris hadn't suggested to them to have his own stack as a standard, they should have developed their own stack and I/we wouldn't be so screwed! I feel both Elbox and Chris couldn't care less about users and a. Elbox cares to make as much cash from a dead platform as possible - b. Chris driven by his own grief only cares to make a point against Elbox by screwing his fellow amigans in the process.....no I'm not trying to flame Chris here, I respect his work, but that's how I feel.

Well, u know what? I couldn't care less too! If Elbox won't release a stack soon I'm sure Linux or BSD will support my spider with its stack and if that fails, I'll get my butt down and develop a usb stack of my own that will support basic stuff like mass storage devices and printers/scanners and add functionality to it overtime. And if anyone else here cares to help me on this that's great and let's do it for free for all and do for once something that is right for our community! So, come February, if Elbox has not delivered (I'm pretty sure they won't anyway) and Chris hasn't changed his stance (same here) I say we go for it. What do u think?
