WinUAE 1.3.3 WIP (22.10.2006)

((((LINK)))

Estimated release: November.

- big E-UAE merge, cleanups, optimizations etc..

Bug fixed:

- Reboot loop if RTG RAM without Z3 RAM enabled
  (1.3.2 bug)
- Hardfile TD_GETGEOMETRY buffer overflow fix
- RDB emulation failed to mount partition(s)
if RDB had one or more  not needed filesystems
and required FS was in ROM.
- Selecting "Mousehack mouse" crashed if HD
  emulation was not enabled.
- "Genlock connected" GUI checkbox fixed (1.3.2 bug)
- Clicking eject in GUI and immediately selecting
another floppy image enables delayed insert
instead of immediately inserting the image.
- Input panel key mapped to  reverted back to its
default mapping after saving and loading the
  configuration.

Major new features:

- Lightpen/lightgun emulation.
- Built-in 7zip decompression support.
- Sound emulation partially rewritten, better
latency, possible fix for scratchy sound on some
systems. Sound emulation will be automatically
disabled when emulated audio subsystem is idle.
  Audio status led implemented.
- Better DMS error handling, encrypted DMS files
  are transparently decrypted.
- bsdsocket.library ReleaseCopyOfSocket()
  implemented (AmiVNC fixed)
- Improved AF rom.key support.
- ProWizard module ripper updated to latest version.
- 100% accurate sound emulation mode does not
cause huge CPU usageanymore with specific games,
for example Paradroid 90 and Rambo 3.
- Automatic direct IO Catweasel MK4 support if no
Windows driver installed, CWMK4 can now be used
  under 64-bit Windows XP.

This is just a WIP update announcement.  AFAIK, there is no public release of 1.3.3.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

Just want to say thanks for considering 64-bit platforms!  :-)  Looking forward to trying my CWMK4 with the eventual release, the floppy drive was feeling left out.

wow, it can use the CWMK4 now... excellent!
and maybe when clone-a is finished, we might be able to install a pci card or something and use the chipset too! that would be great  :-D  :-D  :-D

Not with UAE. The hw emulation is too tightly integrated to be possible to offload to some PCI card.

And it's quite pointless anyway, any 5 year old PC can emulate the chipset faster than some PCI card... :-)

@ricco32097
Well, nothing has been released so far. At least not to public. Your title is misleading...

emulation can never reach the feel of the real thing...

So why are you dreaming about UAE + PCI card merge? PCI card chipset wouldn't make it any more "real thing".

Why not? A simple Turning test proved that this level has been reached already.  :-D

Faster in raw cpu performance maybe...
Even the most modern pc with winuae wont give as smooth graphics and audio as the real thing does. The audio will actually even be delayed as you have to add some buffering to actually get it to playback without popping and skipping. The gfx will jerk every now and then when a windows process is stealing resources. This would not be the case if you had some chips with the sole purpose of emulating the amiga.

Only if the emulation would be 100% independent of the host, and then there would be no need for UAE in the first place.

If software is involved in any way, there are bound to be differences compared to original.

The CW4 direct support is important, especialy since Jens told me he would not be making WinXp 64 or Vista drivers for the CW4.

Can't wait to try this on my new AMD 4400 X2 based system.

I think keropi said was that PCI would mean hardware. But I must say that if the Amiga hardware is emulated perfectly by software, it will be just a matter of CPU power to get to the real thing...

An BTW, no bloated Winblows Vista to slow things down and waste resources ...

an emulated cpu is the same as a real one. it is all "digital"
emulated gfx/sound (and especially sound) never reaches 100% as far as I am concerned.
