I guess a good estimate of the number of PPC PowerUP users would be the number of downloads of the free version of MorpOS/PowerUp.

No, it wouldn't. A large number of BPPC-owners can't run it, since MOS/Powerup doesn't support Mediator/Gfx.

It doesn't mean that there are only 238 PPC users in the world, only that there are 238 PPC users who

a. read the forums
b. understand english or gernam
c. happened to read about this poll, and
d. bothered to register.

If 238 was the real number, it would mean that 98% of PPC cards disappeared or died since 1998.

98% didnt disappear or die but are sitting unused on unused Amigas. 238 is not the real number but I wouldnt expect more than 500 real users.

First time I heard about this registration :) I guess these results have nothing to do with real userbase.
Daily MorphOS user and Amiga active.

Absolutely normal. What percentage of the original sold C64s were still in use 8 years after? What percentage of the original IBM XT clones were in use 8 years after they were produced? What percentage of the 603 and 604 based Macs didn't disappear or die since 1998?

10.000 cards was the total of all powerup cards (bppc, csppc, bvision and cvision). So let us count 3.000 for each bppc and csppc, 2.000 for each bvision and cvision.

I don't know the real amount but that is what I guess. I doubt there were ever 10.000 powerup cards (bppc and csppc) made. This would be a way too much for the small market in 1997/98.

I think this is a different situation.   First, the PPC cards still have a substantial cash value attached to them.  And so, when a person ceases to use them, they tend not to sit unused but to be sold on to another user who, having invested a relatively large amount of money, is going to use it.  A C64 / old Mac / XT/AT PC, on the other hand has no value, and so is more likely to be left in a closet gathering dust.

Secondly, in the case of the 603/604 Macs, they have been superceded by newer / better / faster models.  While in the case of the PowerUp cards, they are stil the fastest expansion available for the classic Amigas.  Again, this encourages people who actually own them, to use them.

Then why those Blizzards are never sold anywhere? Not even 060 only models?
