Its wrong for you to assume that 'he is a con', you should know better than to make such assumptions
Telling people that he has mil-spec chips is a lie. I don't understand how you cannot see a problem with that. It's obviously false advertising.

Yes, these ICs are military spec. The newer versions of these same chips have plastic bodies with tin legs and heatsink.

MC68030UM.pdf, 14-2, 14-4, Pin Grid Array (PGA) (RC suffix).

This is your military spec?

If so, you define all PGA ceramic packages military spec? Enlighten us, you mighty engineer!

@iamaboringperson:

I would appreciate that if you quote me, you could actually quote and not paraphrase.

Secondly, the statement may be misleading on the 'mil-spec' stuff. The truth is I don't know and really DON'T CARE. I suspect most people buying Amiga expansions are not really taking that into account anyway. I would be surprised if this were a major selling point.

It really just looks like a personal attack. I don't buy into any of that mil-spec stuff either, but you should attack the point and not the person.

My point is that there are limitations on what you can blindly accuse people of...

If what he is saying is incorrect, then chances are he is mistaken more than out to con people.

What he is saying is incorrect.

He has been corrected dozens of times, but he still insist he is right (when he is not).

These chips are not military spec of any kind, just normal BGA ceramic packaging used in a LOT of perfectly normal chips.

Speaking of ceramic packages and gold pins, I snapped a rather neat pic of a couple of 68040s last night. With a little postprocessing it came out pretty dang neat.

This guy is a real con!

I have no clue if he is correct about the mil-spec stuff, though I find it funny as hell :lol:

But to be completely honest he has a fantastic feedback rating. So "con" might be a bit too strong.
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

Yeh Doomy is a mixed up dude, I think "con" is the wrong word to describe him though.

@ldanamania

Kinda neat picture! Think I´m gonna save it in my backdrops drawer... :)

So I guess the purple one is the military-grade one?   :-D

@Piru

Fair enough.

I don't reckon it's correct either, but since I don't actually know for sure, I took the less aggressive option.

There's a higher res version at http://www.danamania.com/temp/cpupins.jpg - feel free to use any/either how you like. The larger one looks a little overprocessed though.

The cpus are both about the same ceramic and colour irl, but the one laying flat picked up the blue hue from the monitor sitting about 2ft to the left of the pic, I think - the other picked up the room light which is decidedly warmer! dana

A solder jockey?

Isn't that an entry level job? Not that there's anything wrong with that, we all start somewhere, but it's hardly engineering. (I thought you were a computer teacher or something?)

I am bored to tears of hearing about mil-spec.

Doomy, you're worse than the gun-slingers, waving your soldering iron around like a penile extension :lol:

Nice work dana, look more like a rendered scene than a photo. You should make a tutorial on how to produce photos like these (very useful for advertising, e-bay items etc.)
