Doomy on Ebay
« on: October 20, 2003, 05:02:59 AM »
...I think... :-) Check it out:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2760257273&category=4598

Just look at the description of the item. :-)

So it seems that he does own some "toy" hardware. ;-)

Yes, that is my auction.  No, I do not own any "toy" hardware, I only sell the Amiga 1200 crap.     :-D

Yes, these ICs are military spec.  The newer versions of these same chips have plastic bodies with tin legs and heatsink.

Unfortunately, just because something is made out of ceramic and has gold legs does not make it Military Grade.  As a matter of fact most Military IC's are plastic.  Ever heard of MTP?  Mil-Temp PLASTIC?

Have you ever heard of MIL-STD-883B?  It's a standard that must be met for a chip to be "Military Grade"

The part needs to be assembled to MIL-STD-883B standard.

The part needs to go through reliability screening  of the MIL-STD-883B standard.

They have to be tested to handle extreme temperatures from -55 to 125 degrees C.   And where the temperatures are extreme and the humidity is high, chips have to be MTH   Mil-Temp Hermetic.

And it goes on and on... There is a process the chips have to go through.  They have to be tested and proven to work in extreme conditions.  They have many many many requirements to meet.  You don't just get to gold plate some pins and assume the Military would use it for chr1st sakes!!

A3000D (16mhz, 2MB Chip, 4MB Fast, SCSI (300+MB), SuperGen Genlock, Kick 3.1)
Back in my day, we didn\'t have water. We only had Oxygen and Hydrogen, and we\'d just have to shove them together.

Just who do you think you are talking too?  I know all this stuff already.  I just happen to be a Class 4 Electronics Assembler.  I have worked on Top Secret military contracts, so I know what I am talking about.  Anyway, the type of mil spec I am talking about is an electronics assembly spec.  It has nothing to do with the military.  There are 3 classifications of electronics assembly.  They are Consumer Spec, Military Spec and Weapons Spec.  Stuff that is produced for the military actually falls under the Weapons Spec catagory.

Don't you think it's about time you stopped throwing around your job title like it has some sort of meaning?

Electronics Assembly is a entry level job that requires no more than a highschool diploma and the ability to follow directions.

If you really knew your beans about electronics, you wouldn't be an assembler.

Ok, Ok, I understand the Military Spec thing is a bit of a running battle, but why should you suppose that he is dishonest regarding his auctions? Its wrong for you to assume that 'he is a con', you should know better than to make such assumptions - have you ever bought anything from him? Have you ever heard from anyone who has?

That is really wrong of you to say that!
Just because you do not agree with his views does not give you the right to accuse him of being an eBay 'con'. How do you know how honest a trader he is?
