PCMCIA Compact Flash Kit with EasyADF
« on: May 16, 2006, 03:13:20 PM »
An easy way of transporting large amounts of data between a PC and Amiga 1200/600 is by using a Compact Flash card.

To make copying Amiga disk images between the Amiga and other computers quicker, we have developed EasyADF. This Amiga utility creates floppy disks from ADF files and allows you to convert an existing floppy disk into a ADF.

We now stock PCMCIA to Compact Flash adapter package, complete with EasyADF. There are great value options for the adapter: 128MB, 256MB or 512MB

Existing customers that have previously purchased this kit can obtain a free copy of EasyADF (and future updates) by emailing us.

Wouldn't any PCMCIA-CF adapter allow the CF memory to be seen by the Amiga (as un unformatted volume)? Then you just mount and format it as a MSDOS volume. Then use any ADF util to read/write to the CF MSDOS volume?

Or am I missing something?

I guess the only advantage of using a pcmcia adaptor is the hot swapping.

I'm using a cf-ide adaptor with a 4 gig microdrive and it is very fast and stable.

Hi,

PCMCIA CF adapters on the Amiga require the installation of CFD  to allow the CF card to be recognised by the OS, and FAT95 to interpret the PC's FAT filesystem.

I can see AmigaKit.com's package being useful for those who have no way to get the files on to the Amiga in the first place, plus it provides an easy way for newbies to read/write ADFs...

I imagine CrossDOS would work just as well instead of FAT95. Or any of the many other DOS/MS .device/L/mounter utils.

The version of CrossDOS that ships with Workbench 2.1 and above (3.x) does not support Windows 95 long filenames.

The full commercial version of CrossDOS does support long filenames (still available at SoftHut store ?).

Try the powerful FAT95 or one of other FAT handler like the less known MSD95 !
