Could Eurofighter pilots be using 3d displays courtesy of Hyperion?  Sounds too good to be true!

Congratulations to Hyperion on this deal.  Good to see some of their hard work bearing fruit.

That it would be their 3D drivers that would bring in some revenue at last is...unexpected not to say the least ;-)

Still, congrats for pulling it off.

Maybe they *paid* for a *portable* OpenGL implimentation with Radeon drivers.

And the xorg driver is unsuitable because?

Probably RAM issues. They focus a bit on "embedded| in the press release. Xorg isn't exactly "light weight" when it comes to memory footprint, and then iirc, you have zero 3D acceleration for any board above 9500 (with their "radeon" driver, not sure what the situation is with their "ati" driver).

These are interesting times we live in. New machines in progress, new AmigaOS in progress.. userbase slowly, slowly growing..  which is a success in itself.

@mdma

Why are you so desperate to find something wrong or stupid with this? Clearly the fact of the matter is that Smiths Aerospace saw something of worth in Hyperions driver software and purchased it. Maybe they didn't want an open source driver? Maybe they have tight memory requirements? Maybe they don't want to run an X based display?

Why don't you e-mail Smiths Aerospace?

mdma, what is your problem?  You're acting like "Interesting" at a Genesi announcement.

This is a positive development for Hyperion, debatable whether it makes an iota of difference (or is even relevent) to OS4's current status, but still a positive development.

I'm not.  You should visit the local site a bit less.

I want to know what it is that they have sold.  PR speak is not exactly reknowned for details.

How is it any more "dodgy" than the thousands of other press releases made that day?

What does it matter what OS you use and who it's made by?  Seems like a knee-jerk defence to an accusation never made.

It comes across that either you get your jollies from pissing off a certain section of people, or you have some odd need to find something negative in anything related to the aforementioned group of people.

BTW what is your obsession with AW.net?  Why do you have to bring it up over here every 5 mins? Why do you think that as Amiga.org users we give a flying {bleep} what goes on at AW?  Perhaps you just think you're incredibly clever for thinking up the LoG joke.

It isn't.  All press releases are dodgy.  I am still in the dark about what they have actually sold.

How is wanting to know what exactly I'm supposed to be excited about, regarding something that financially affects a company I have invested money into, considered negativity?

You have issues it seems.

I don't think it, I am.  Salary and IQ to prove it! :-P
