Tronman=Bolton Peck, former Amiga Inc. employee. You can guess the rest from his comments on ANN.

Anyway, don't companies usually get insurance for competitions like this  to cover any potential losses , or is that only for NPO's?
On schedule, and suing

Is this the normal way of doing things? First presenting the contest and there leaving out the fact that you can win even though you don't buy any software and then, in the rulez presented below, state that one doesn't need to buy any software to win? It seems a bit odd /me thinks.
Amiga 1200, Mirage Tower, PC-Key 1200, Blizzard 1260/50, SCSI Kit, 256MB RAM, 40GB HD, Mediator SX, Soundblaster 128, Voodoo 3 and Realtek 8139.

It's quite normal 'No Purchase Necessary' rules.

Like cans of coke with a prize printed under the ringpull or packets of crisps which 'may have' money inside.  All competitions of this type you have to offer an option of free entry by sending your name and address.  Otherwise it would be a lottery, which isn't allowed.

Of course the 'You may also enter just by sending your details on a postcard' bit is kept in small print, since they want people to buy their products.

Given their track record with coupons and t-shirts for PAYING CUSTOMERS...  But, then again I guess Handango is on the hook also so at least there's one reputable company involved.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(
