c|Net on the return of Commodore
« on: December 16, 2005, 10:34:24 PM »
c|Net has posted a story about the new Commodore (known until earlier this year as Yeahronimo Media Ventures). The company is planning to announce new products at the CES in January.

You can read the story here.

Commodore itself, though, is quite small, currently employing about 50 people with annual sales of around 40 million euros ($48 million).

So, I guess that makes Amiga about 49 people and 39+ million Euros shy of Commodore. Hey, maybe Commodore will re-buy Amiga and re-introduce it. That would be too funny.

Seriously, most of us would probably like to see the Amiga in their hands.

From one owner who is just interested in using the name to sell unrelated crap, to another owner who is just interested in using the name to sell unrelated crap.

Anyone know when Amiga OS 4 is ACTUALLY going to be done? Hyperion seems ridiculously mum on the subject.

Why ...oh why, do they torment us with visions of brighter futures and never say anything about when?!
Whilst we are on the subject of our mushroom like status in the consumer information world, Elbox: WTF is going on with Dragon? and Eyetech, how about letting us all know whats going on b4 we all wait for 2 months after putting in orders with no reply!
I realise that many 'miggy companies do it 4 love ..but plea5e....KEEp us informed!

I saw this article when I got home last night and was horrified (ok, maybe just annoyed) that they included pictures of Mac Classics in the collage of C= machines.

PLUS

And there you have it! Too bad they don't do this with classic Amiga and or Classic Atari...

Yup, I am happy someone finally bought the name that just gets it. Finally a company making it possible for selling what people want. The C64DTV license is a 3 time a home run. This would have never been possible with the clowns that have been running Amiga Inc over the years, or even Commodore's prior owners. I'd suspect we see some more retro products in the coming years.

-edit-
BTW make that 40 million Euros ++++ a year shy of Commodore. Amiga Inc have virtually no($0.00) income and million++ judgements against them that keep adding interest year in year out.
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

I'd personally like to see something along these lines, but with ac actual SID, chip, a cart port, and Compact Flash reader which can be used as a Hard Drive to load floppy images off of. :)

Matter of fact ANY product with SID chips in it is a good thing!
