AROS-Max: Work-in-progress version 0.4.6 of distribution released
« on: September 11, 2005, 07:09:56 PM »
The distribution AROS-Max administered by 'Coolcat' is now available in a new work-in-progress version. V0.4.6 can be seen as a beta version still including bugs that is making its way to version 0.5.0. The ISO file contains among other things the AROS-TCP/IP stack as well as the AROS port of the browser Mosaic. Feedback regarding discovered bugs is welcome.

The only issue I have come across so far is the USB problem which, if memory serves me right, an AROS issue not AROS-Max.

If the mouse pointer freezes on boot.  Turn off USB in your BIOS and the remove USB hardware.  Once I did this it ran fine.

A very professional piece of software.  When USB is resolved Open Office is released this WILL be the only other option for x86.  Developers be warned - you NEED to be developing for this platform.

To CoolCat29

How about a script that copies all system files to ram drive, and assign them as the new system. Most people have more then 512meg in their pc's, so why not just copy the whole CD to ram :-)

This should be easy enough using iconx I think, and with a nice icon for it also, the user can choose to use this function or not.

Just an idea, can this be done?

Thanks for all the good work!

God, I don't.
Most of my friends don't.
1200 PCs at work have 256 Meg ram.
Some have 512, only a few.

I have 1 512 Meg Pc at home. None of my friends or family have over this either.
It's not the question, that is the problem, it is the problem, that is the question.
