Best 2000 I've ever used.

I would have bought those guts... given you a good price too... fool... :(

CU_AMiGA no Amiga is *REALLY* up for *the* job these days, its at a minimum a what?  almost 9 year old system (that bieng a 4000/1200), so an Amiga as a 'hobby' the A2000 is FINE for that, and its built to higher quality.

@pablotincho

What do you want the machine to do?  If you want a PC-replacement, then you'd probably be better of getting an A1/Peg than a fully decked out A1200.

Unless you want to use the latest stuff and use the Amiga as your main PC, I doubt that you'd need PPC etc

The computers don't need to be expensive - while an A4000T might sell for loads, there are often great deals for A1200s on AmiBench and the classifieds here.  What is expensive is all the add-ons to bring it up to date.

The 1200, 4000(t) and CD32 are the only ways you'll be able to use AGA (without an emulator) - while you can upgrade the graphics on other models (perhaps to better capabilities than AGA) you cannot convert them to AGA (unless you swap the mobo :-D )

I think I'm going mad

Whoops! Of course you meant to say CD32 and not CDTV. :-)

Then all you really need is the base A1200.  Maybe a card with an 030 and fast RAM.

In fact, if you have much more than that, most AGA games will crash, act poorly, or outright refuse to load on a super-modded system.  Trust me.  There's very few things that work flawlessly on my A4000.  (which is why I have a nearly stock A1200 for playing old games when I want to.)

There weren't that many add-ons made, and in lots of cases there are collectors like you and I that want them.  Keeps the price high.  It's supply and demand.  Not HUGE amounts of demand... But there are simply more collectors than available parts; hence the price keeps going up, despite the fact that the hardware isn't terribly useful for modern applications.

I think it's better if you wait the release of AmigaOS4 and then
you'll buy an A1(I like the "lite :) or a pegasos2...probably you will
spend around the same price but you get a VERY BETTER computer!

I wan't buy anything alese for my classic A1200...
Too money and TOO poor quality for the accessories... :(
ATM my ppc and bvision was enough...

Bye! And LONG live to the NEW Amigas! :D

Then buy yourself an Amiga 2500 from eBay.  It is a much higher quality, better built machine then the Amiga 1200.  I myself am very proud of my own Amiga 2500.  You can pick up an Amiga 2500 from eBay for less then $200.00.  Then you would have a computer built like a German Tiger-Tank, instead of some plastic piece of crap built like a toy!  pablotincho, trust me, you will love the FlagShip of all Amiga computers- The Commodore Amiga 2000 Series.     :-D

Ummm,

Amiga 2000 is poor quality machine.

It was a good machine for it's time...  Just completely useless to this guy, who just wants to play AGA games.  ;-)

i got almost maximum out of my a1200 , and doods i dont get probs with aga games..  i am an a1200 user with ppc and 060 and mediator etc.

anyway for 300 pounds , sure not impossible i have seen fully towered blizz1260's with mediators for 250 so..

but it must be said, the buyer was very lucky!

good luck with your upgrade , and btw ... expensive you say?  , no its not... mediator is 2+ years old (new'r models have come since then)  , ppc is from 97 and up.., and besides quality costs abit more than mainstream ####e.

i use my amiga for everything, i dont have a pc so i build it like others do with their pc's , ie UPGRADE! ...though i dont need to upgrade every 6th month :D ...

goodluck
Whats up with all the hate!

need at least a 68030/40 processor and a 4 way eide, like the "eide express" a scan doubler flicker fixer then 3.1 roms and os3.9. but then i'd sure try to get a 68060/50 processor, then you'll need to build a better power supply or buy a tower...OR just wait a while longer and get that mini A1 board and os4 and save a bunch and have a brand new better faster system. these classics drain dry many a pocket or bank accounts. check out elbox.com to get an ideal if you really must stay in the classic range.. good luck.

It depends on what you are wanting to acomplish. Playing AGA  games is not possible on the 2000. Using a video toaster is not (well not easily or recomended) on the 1200.
The 2000 is better for graphics work. Seems to work with genlocks better. I don't know why but the signal out of is cleaner. Could have been a "bad 1200" as we only tried one.
Many of the cable stations still use 2000's for thier programing. They are hardy machines if the battery is replaced.

i think 300 us dollars.
but i want a ppc.
i will use a pc hd
a voodo card
memory from pc

BlizzardPPC + BVision is way to go. Any EDO/FPM SIMM goes.

Using "PC" HD is simple, but you need an adapter for 3,5" HD. Not
expensive.

Your biggest problem is PSU and space for BVision. You probably need a
tower kit...

1st best Amiga--->3000T..can take PPC card and has built in flickerfixer, SCSI + lots of room.
2nd best Amiga--->4000T as above, but uses IDE drives, has AGA.
3rd best Amiga--->4000 can take PPC card and has built in flicker fixer, uses ide drives, has AGA
4th best Amiga--->towered A1200,has AGA, room for expansion, uses IDE drives, also has PCMCIA port.
5th best Amiga--->A3000, SCSI, some room for expansion, can take PPC card, but tight fit.
6th best Amiga--->A2000, room for expansion, but fastest processor is 68060, HD are usually SCSI.

Pegasos II G3 600mhz - 300 EUR <= runs fast as aone G3 800mhz.
AmigaOne G3 800mhz - 700 EUR?

Pegasos II G4 1000mhz - 500 EUR
AmigaOne G4 800mhz - 800 EUR?

Pegasos II uses DDR ram.
AmigaOne uses SDRAM133 ram.

AmigaOne at the moment runs only linux, Amiga Operating System 4.0 isnt available to the public.
Pegasos runs MorphOS, linux and soon other osses ( OpenBSD, QNX... www.pegasosppc.com ).

With Pegasos you have free software for morphos, aka SuperBundle (that is still growing!), and you should receive the pegxlin cd.
With AmigaOne do you only have the AmigaOne, a Debian cd, and ? a t-shirt? and a coupon? :?

Pegasos is cheaper and you you have an amiga-like OS, is beta, but mos 1.4 runs well, and mos 1.5 will runs better ;)
With Pegasos seems be more development that for AmigaOne/OS4

What do you want? Choose! BLUE or RED?
