A4000 IDE CDROM on the standard IDE header.
« on: October 16, 2003, 12:50:44 PM »
I have 3.9 installed on a 3.2GB HD in my A4000, I've just added an IDE CDRW, but I'm having all sort of problems mounting it / Using MakeCD.

scsi.device unit 1 does not mount the drive with 3.9 CD0: and l:CacheCDFS

IDEFIX97 (atapi.device) works-ish but every time atapi.device is called I get a recoverable alert saying BAD C0DE

AsimCDFS works, however MAKECD will not SCAN asimatapi.device for CDRW's.

What is the best way to mount a cdrom on a bog standard 4000 IDE  as slave device. ?

With OS 3.9 it should work.

Are you allowing SetPatch to update your scsi.device, if you don't you will still have the 3.1 version which does not support ATAPI devices (such as CD-ROMs and Writers).

I take it you are not using any kind of IDE splitter (I think there were models for the A4k) as these are not supported by the OS 3.9 scsi.device and need their own software (such as IDEFix).

What model is your CD writer BTW?

No IDE splitter, just the Standard 44PIN IDE Header.
LG 48x24x48 CDRW.
It works a treat on my powerflyer in my A1200T using the powerflyer scsi.device.

Boingbag 1 should address most of these problems. Try it !

None. The line should read SetPatch QUIET.

The A4000 has a 40pin connector. 44pins are for Laptops and the A1200/A600.

How do you connect a SCSI device to the IDE bus (or vice versa) ?

Bye,
Thomas
