« on: June 16, 2005, 07:28:41 PM »
Commodore C64 Direct to TV is now available to buy from AmigaKit.com.  The C64 DTV is a computer in a joystick that plugs into your TV and allows you to play the 30 in-built C64 classic games.

The line-up of original games includes Summer Games, Winter Games, Pitstop (I & II),  Impossible Mission (I & II), Firelord, World Karate Champion, Speedball and many more. Unlike the original computer, you won't have to wait ages for the tape to load each game, they load up from memory almost instantly!

Also available from AmigaKit.com is the Competition Pro USB Joystick - a USB remake of the classic games controller.

Is this the one from Jeri Ellsworth that's fun to tinker with?

Nice, I've been wanting to pick one up.  I'm not much of a hardware hacker but I would like to add the Keyboard and disk drive. :-)

If the games list on the site is correct then this isn't the new and improved/fixed PAL version.

Plus, not to rain on the parade, but it's much cheaper to buy from places like amazon.co.uk, etc.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

New and improved PAL version?

I have the NTSC one and my only gripe was that some games like Uridium seemed to be running too fast.  It was suggested that this was because the timing on the NTSC version may have been off.

In what way has the PAL version been improved and where can I find details on it?

Thanks.

I haven't yet seen a comprehensive list of what was fixed.  The games are very different.  I hope the compatibility with non DTV games (ie. floppy games) is improved.

So I finally picked up once of these at my local "Toys R Us" Very nice selection of games and good menu layout! Unfortunately, there is also a good deal of what appears to be video interference in the form of wavy vertical lines. I've tried relocating the equipment, but it did not help. Perhaps the long, thin video cable just isn't very good at sheilding.

Anyone else seeing this?

These things are selling like small warm bread related products!

I wonder if we'll ever see a A500-DTV?
