Now here's something I'd be willing to pay for.

I don't mind paying a high price for a motherboard and paying for the operating system separately.

Boards like this more than deliver the goods.

I hope boards like this become popular with the linux crowd so they become commonly available as a desktop solution. Maybe this way, the people behind Amiga OSes will have reason to add support for them.

It would probably have to wait until AmigaOS 4.2 because dual processors aren't supported in 4.0 . :-(

The only impressive thing about it, is the PPC part? Because hi-tech mobos (new PCI standard, hi specs BUS/Memory/ports etc.) are all over the net.

But if it's amiga related it has to do with OS4.x? So someone has to pay the copyrights, and I don't think some "Non-Apple company", is willing to pay $$$ for running an OS that probably has never heard of.

Linux, AROS etc, maybe the only link of any interest... (admitting that YOU are the one willing to pay some money to buy the hw, and run some AOS flavour).

heh, and I doubt they ever will. However, I can't see why it couldn't work with just a single processor.

I think one of the Frieden brothers has a dual PPC board.

Also if I am not mistaken the new AOS4.0 is now licensed separately on the new uA1's.

uA1's sold without the Amiga OS4.0 license are $160.00 dollars cheaper.

That allows Alan to sell uA1's to the linux crowd cheaper.

The Best  part of the story in case you missed it. The new IBM Northbridge chip allows people to make a powerful and realatively cheap POP boards.

Demand and the willinngness on the board manufacturer to supply details is all that it would take for Hyperion to make a port.

Remember demand for sales would have to be suficient to allow hyperion to make money on the port. Otherwise no port

Even though this beast seems to run at 1/2 of the CPU bus speed when compared to PowerMac, it would be "OK" for a single CPU Mid-end AmigaOne / AmigaTwo.  :-P  :-P  :-P  :-P  :-P

How do you explain Eyetech AmigaOne? They (Eyetech) have done exactly what you describe for the TeronMotherboard & Mai northbridge.

Why it would be impossible for someone else to do the same?

Why would it be impossible for Eyetech to order load of A1CX board with the Nforce4 + G5 + AOS licence?

Amiga fans would buy any amount of them overnight for $2000 (almost).  :-D

At any rate, this looks like a great PPC mobo to run AmigaOS/MOS on.
