I need to make a new A4000 PSU. Can you help me?
« on: October 12, 2003, 09:25:42 AM »
Hi

I need to make myself a new PSU for my A4000. I have an old PSU from a PC, and was thinking I could use that.

I have the schematics for the A4000 power connecter from an homepage and compared that with my PC PSU. It looks to me that the P8 connecter contains all the cables for the A4000 connector; the only thing missing is the PWR GND. The wire that's left is an orange one, at the side away from the two GND cables. Can anyone tell me of this is PWR GND. The PC PSU doesn't give me that information, but gives me information about all the other cables.

Does the schematic look like this?

If so, that is not power ground. It's power good. If you have a power good wire on the PC supply, it connects to the power good on the A4000 connector.

Ok, my mistake. You have given me the correct link. I had to remember the schematics in the head becuase it's on an other computer, and couldn't remember the inet address.

I don't know if the wire is power good on the PC supply becuase the wire isn't mentioned on the PSU schematics. I tried measuring the voltage in both PSUs and it seem's like being the same voltage, but becuase of my tools I'm not 100% sure.

What, no one ever made a new PSU for an A4000? Strange

Look

here

I used the info on this site to convert a 300w AT supply so I could towerise my a4000. Works really well. Use a volt meter to check the values in any case- the colour values are correct - but its always best to check.

Hope that helps

I made the hack and no problems there. The A4000 bootet up nicely, so now I'm going to install my Voodoo card in it. Thanks for the link
