Genesi concludes Trademark License Agreement with IBM

IBM has licensed Genesi with the PowerPC® logo for Genesi products containing one or more IBM PowerPC 750 Processors, including the 750CXe, 750FX and the 750GX.


Genesi will extend the current product range of the Pegasos II using the recently released IBM G3 GX. This new product will be sold in a motherboard and CPU card package, as a single card for existing Pegasos II owners, and featured in the Open Desktop Workstation (ODW GX).

Not to be picky but...  I followed the link to IBM's site.

"The Open Desktop Workstation is based upon the Genesi Pegasos, a CHRP based motherboard. Integrating selected Open Firmware and running multiple (15+) operating systems"

15+ operating systems?  Are they counting individual linux distros?

Huh?  I though OpenBSD got cancelled on Pagasos?

I really have nothing against the Pegasos, I just think they need to check their facts.

Obviously they are talking about the POTENTIAL to run a large number. If they had 15 operating systems they would say 15, not 15+. It is open ended. Just because there might not be 15 exactly distinct operating systems right now they are still allowed to say that it can run 15 or more... that's pretty normal sales tactic. If they had said exactly 15 it would be a different matter.

15+ means it can run at least 15, with more under porting/development.
Listing BSD at this time is simply false advertising.

BSD still runs on the Pegasos, how is that false advertising?
