I was wondering when this would happen. Why an already struggling PC manufacturer bought out another company doesn't seem like the best of ideas... Money they used in the buyout could have been better spent elsewhere.

My sympathies to those now unemployed. :-(

I'm not surprised either. Every time I walk for a look at what's new I have some creepy sales person pounce on me and they are very difficult to shake off. The ones I've seen even start checking things off on their clipboards as they follow you around harrassing you. They are so bad I swore I'd never go back. They've been empty the two times I've walked in too. Can't say I'll miss them. Sorry for the people being layed off though. Never good.

Hmm. Bummer. After Gateway totally fscked over Amiga, I could care less if they totally folded. Too bad about the lost jobs, though.

Yeah...  The one I went to around here was exactly that way.  Pounced on by a salesman who couldn't help me in the least (all I wanted was an HP printer) and the rest of the store empty.  In fact, on the printer trip, they refused to sell a simple printer.  Said they only sold complete systems.  I commented that this must by why the place was empty, as I left.

Yeah.  It's always the workers that have to pay for the idiocy of upper management.  :-(
