Anachronism Industries buys Prometheus from Matay.
« on: March 08, 2004, 06:59:19 PM »
The dynamics of the Amiga market has changed forever. Gone are the days Amiga users will have to pay exorbitant prices to expand their computers. Today I am please to announce Anachronism Industries has purchased all rights and remaining stock of the Prometheus from Matay.

The first phase of this transaction is to reintroduce the excellent Prometheus PCI bus board. The retail price has been drastically slashed 45% to $175! The Prometheus is available exclusively at Anachronism Industries . Shipping starts March 12, order now and get free US shipping, international customers pay only a flat $10 shipping!

This is only the beginning! We are also pleased to announce new driver development is underway, details will follow shortly. There is much more to come!

About the Prometheus:
The Prometheus was introduced in 2001 as the first PCI solution for the Amiga 3000 and Amiga 4000. The Prometheus is the only bus board to have pledged support by both the AmigaOS4 and MorphOS teams. The Prometheus has a very comprehensive, open and free developer kit. It’s a high quality made product which gained good opinions from its users. Its full potential is to be unleashed in the near future, stay tuned!

About Anachronism Industries:
Anachronism Industries was formed in 2003 is based out of Pompano Beach, FL USA with the intention of providing quality solutions to alternative computing markets at previously unheard of aggressive prices.

About Matay:
Matay is a polish company formed in 2000 based in Warsaw, Poland. On the local market known as a software and hardware dealer while for many Amiga users worldwide it’s known as a hardware manufacturer who made "Prometheus" PCI busboard for Zorro3 Amiga systems and is also recognized as an AmigaDE games developer.

GREEEEEAAAATTT!!!!!!!

@downix
Well, I disagree. It might have been bought for next to nothing(or maybe not...), but the fact still remains that this is the first time after a long period that a company (or an individual -redrumloa) makes an bussiness investment on the amiga market. This made my day!   :-D
Can we now see more drivers for the Prometheus please!?!

EDIT: Is Anachronism Industries Redrumloa's company, or my mind is playing tricks on me again?

Great!

please help to improve ArakAttack!
"
!!! This is a debug version to check my native prometheus api. This driver won't enable any USB devices !!!

1. Install Poseidon 2.2

2. Copy the included PrometheusUSB.device into the devs:USBHardware drawer. Make sure the name stays unchanged.

3. Open a CLI and type "sushi >t:Logfile"

4. run Trident, enter the hardware section and add PrometheusUSB.device

5. push online within the trident window

6. press control-c in the CLI window

7. Send in the logfile.

8. If the logfile looks good, then you'll get a usb enabled version. If not, you'll get a new one.

I need your help! I don't own a Prometheus Board and your feed back is required if you want USB! AmithlonTV will be next
if USB succeeds."

I thought, Anachronism Industries had exited the amiga market, a couple of months ago... I recall a A.org news post titled "Stillborn". You guys changed your minds? If yes, well done!

Yes we changed our minds. We have many people to thank for the encouragement and support to help change our minds. First and foremost is Wayne Hunt, many thanks to him for his support through a gloomy time.

@red:

Sometime in the future.....will we see low cost a1 boards alternatives from you guys? ;-)

Or is Anachronism gonna base all its assets to classic amiga?

@restore2003

There is plenty we want to do and some things already in the works. I will not announce anything until it is ready to go.

Yeah Baby!!!!!!!! I have a Amiga 4000 that is just wanting a nice little PCI setup.  I can't wait until  it all clears in the dust.  I'll be waiting with cash in hand.

@red
Any chance of redesigning the Prom in a way that it
would fit easier/better ? Or maybe some minimalist Zorro3-busboard with one slot (oriented in a way to make the Prom sit where it should sit).
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else
