Well, IBM did promote Power processors with AIX (yet another *nix variant) …

I recall, IBM’s last “throw wads of cash at OS venture" was the OS/2 Warp PowerPC Edition....

Well I loke the idea of having IBM building on the support of Linux. I would like to see it get as user friendly as winblows and still be as good at what it does today.

I can't really see how Windows in any way is user-friendly? I don't have control of anything, it feels...  even know when I've learned about all of the running services, learn't how to deal with the registry, learnt a lot more...  I still feel that I know nothing about what ACTUALLY is going on. What are all those damn DLL:s doing? Oh my god...

Windows may be an abomination, but it's still user friendly compared to Linux.

If I was to take the Linux approach in decorating my home, I'd have a rope dangling from the ceiling instead of stairs, and all the doors would be eight inches square.

In terms ‘user friendly’, Win2K3 (Enterprise Edition) blows away any Linux server distro solution in regard server maintenance. This is due to wizards overkill.

This has nothing to do with knowing how DLLs or libraries work.

Note that MS Windows is not targeted for people who wants to 'know' the OS. In fact, it wants everything transparent from the user’s POV.

That's all well and good, IBM, but when can I get a laptop with Linux pre-installed? Plenty of choices in servers, zero choices for the consumer market. Oh, wait, I DO have a choice... XP Home, or XP PRO. Bah!
