Today i contact autor of Bourriquet and he write me:

"it's about one version DEV (0.2.1), not multitasking,
little buggy, and a lot of buttons don't works for the moment. Just connection and research(... just name or keywords) works correctly..."

Used SnoopDos to figure out what I was missing and downloaded the
missing components from Aminet. After that I got it up and running.

Several servers kicked me out. And I also got some crashes. But was
able to do some search if I found a compatible server.

Unfortunatly as some mentioned this program isn't finished yet and not
much happens when you press the download button.

Looks quite good though! :-)

Looks good :-D

Is it really a great idea to include a screenshot with Amiga Forever serials and kickstart images visible though?

P2P is a nice tool for some things, but I dread to think of the impact widespread software piracy would have on the Amiga/MOS platforms :-x

Fact: DirectConnect is the best file share available.

A port of DC++ could be possible.

What's wrong with DC? Don't say the servers. If you can't be arsed to share enough of course you're going to be left on the 1 - 10GB share hubs.

>What's wrong with DC? Don't say the servers. If you can't be arsed to share enough of course you're going to be left on the 1 - 10GB share hubs
<------------------>

There is nothing wrong in DC/DC++ itself. But _some_ of the hubs.. jesus christ. Some underage kidz running and acting as halfnazis. And if that wasn't enough already, we also have a bunch of god damn whiners begging to open more slots.
And when they a) dont get response b) gets negative response, usually you get a nice'n'friendly "f*ck you!" back.

Luckily this doesn't happen in more "pro" hubs (100gb+) but it's pretty annoying when it happens.

Anyways.. a couple short stories...

One time I was downloading something which transferred very slowly.. like 1-2k/s .. as it was the only place where I was able to find it and I wasn't in a hurry, I kept it on and on. Meanwhile I was uploading 100kb worth every second .. and what happened.. the second day i got kickbanned due to leeching :-)

Oh, and twice I was kickbanned for sharing kazaa files aswell... one(1) forgotten file I didn't even know existed, among 30gb of mp3s.

And if it was only me.. but it happens to pretty much everyone I know.

uh..did I mention the very poor transfer speeds compared to Bit Torrent already? :)

Poor transfer speeds? Yeah, if you waste your time downloading off someone on dial-up. Other than that, the rest is true. I soppose DC's for the more "pro" file sharers.

BTW, there are some really good file sharing IRC chans.

Hi LP,

AmiGift is still in betatesting stage, so it isn't available to the public jet.

I'll give you more info, as soon as possible :-)

Ciao
