« on: December 19, 2003, 02:01:28 PM »
In January 2004, Computer City will open www.amigaone-benelux.com. The site will be aimed at (potential) Dutch and Belgian AmigaOne users and will contain detailed information about the various A1 modelss, FAQs, user presentations and experience reports, support information and an AmigaOne configuration and ordering section.

Hi Ron,

erm!!. . . .  naaaa!!!. . .  it is X-mas :-)

Even here in Italy, now "some" resellers, sells AOne and Pegasos both.

. . . .an intelligent and professional decision, for ALL Amiga's resellers and for the good of the users..

Stop to the "BLUE side" and to the "RED side" , it is time grow up people . . .alltoghether :-)

Happy X-mas

Ciao

Will the FAQ also state DMA bug is a "feature" and not a bug? ;)

Hi dammy

i suppose that you are speaking about AOne under "some" Linux installation . . . right?

On AOne under AOS4, there aren't DMA related problems!

Cos there is no DMA (yet) .....  :-P

And what do you mean with "some" ?
There is a problem, it isn't fix, so either you have it or you don't use DMA.
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

Sure,  you don't use DMA, there isn't much of a problem, now is there. ;)

Krono, the DMA bug is something easily fixed with software. Linux will eventualy have a fix for it, such as when AmigaOS4 is released a fix will also be present. But i know people have told you this before, so i dont know why you keep harping on about it!

Since the Teron has been sold as a linux solution, why hasn't someone been able to write a linux DMA fix?  Hyperion doesn't want to deal with, OK, but the PPC Linux folks out there usually don't wait on others to do the work.  Chipset is what, four years old, and there isn't a fix in sight, is there?  Artica-P may fix the DMA bug, but for right now, Amiga1 have this bug and fair warning should be given to those buying it.

BTW, Opteron 140 with mobo is under $400 with shipping in the US.  :-D

@Rodney

"easily fixed" ? Says who ? Those who said :
- there is no bug.
- thats what you get when you buy your firmware.
-"we" fixed the bug.
- it's all in the VIA-SB, and you have to have good contact with MAI to info about it.
(don't ask me where the sense in that one is)
- it doesn't affect SCSI, cos it is in the VIA.
- offcourse it affects SCSI, cos it's a PCI-prob (only one day later).
- we fixed the bug in the newest kernel.
- we fixed the bug in the newest UBoot.
- we fixed the bug in the newest kernel.
- OS4 won't be affected, cos we do the drivers with it in mind (but sofar noone has seen that).
- VIA is so tight with info on that (how does work with the 4th statement).
- We are not interested in fixing it in linux.

Did I miss one ?

But now, we have the 4th year of the ArticiaS, and noone, except bPlan
maneged to get DMA working reliable, noone except Eyetech is planning to
sell ArticiaS-based HW.

Doesn't sound as it was easily fixed, except you meant fixing it by turning
off DMA, which is offcourse fairly easy  :-D
