Sorry but that seems a bit pointless to me, especially since you ask specifically for an OS4 port... why would EA care for half a second about an OS that's not even released? Come back when there will be an established market of hundred of thousands users, and then EA may bust a move...
Asking for an open source release would have made more sense I think... At least it could be ported to Windows, Linux and Amiga OS with RTG support...  but then I imagine the original code would be a nightmare to port... So maybe it's easier to start a clone from scratch :)
there were some pretty good attempts on PC some years ago (Grafx2, VGA Paint)... and on Amiga PPaint is free now. Does/will  it work on MorphOS/OS4?

This petition is very good indeed, because Deluxe Paint is one of the best drawing programs out there. Yeah! Just run and paint, animate and get creative!

Deluxe Paint is one of the most advanced drawing programs for sure! Its got the best ever animation console. If you want to do animGifs, you do it with Deluxe Paint and anim2gif tool on Aminet for example. Its damn easy! The only thing missing in Dpaint is full RTG support and layers. And not layers like in Photoshop, but more like those in TvPaint for Amiga.

www.amigaworld.org will contribute and help out this petition from this weekend on! we've talked to Virgin, and now its only upto Hyperion if they want to do a port of Unreal Tournament 2003 for AmigaOS4 or not.

So talking with EA, well.. www.amigaworld.org have allready sent a mail to EA in paper, e-mail and FAX version.

Regards,
Michal, www.amigaworld.org
I love and respect people which care! And not those with
a heart made of stone.

Why not petition to get Gimp on OS4?

That makes more sense.  The source code is already out there.  If I was a stronger programmer and had an A1 w/ OS4 I'd jump on it. :-D

Sorry, but it seems like a silly idea. If the petition was to "Release the source code as open source for DPaint" then i'd sign it and be "all for it". But to try and get THEM to port an old application with no market is insane.

That's exactly what I was thinking. EA is beyond applications and they know that there is no money to be made in consumer desktop applications.

Asking them to open source it now that would be smart. That way someone could make both a blue and red versions.  ;-)

On the DPaint I could produce an animation in a few minutes ...

On PPaint I got tired of trying or it crashes before long...

So, we (/ I) need something like DPaint, only faster, perhaps.

If DPaint is not ported then it would be nice if some paint program GUI could be set so that it's identical to DPaint and as fast or faster.

Another old GFX apps that I loved to use is Brilliance (port of it would be nice as well) ... and Digipaint3 (it still works on a4K/060 and it's very fast and fun, too bad that it also is tied to legacy chipset).

Most pointless petition ever.

There's more chance of asking Cloanto to update PPaint, which is a far superior product.

@AmiDelf
"now its only upto Hyperion if they want to do a port of Unreal Tournament 2003 for AmigaOS4 or not. "

No. It's UT that they're considering porting.

to confuse everyone here: why AmigaOS when there are already enough flavours of Linux exceeding AmigaOS4 and its laready got many apps.

Only geeks  :-o  will be investing in dedicated Amiga hardware.  Looking on the financial side, that will not be me.

A 24bit RTG version was coded but never released... instead of petitioning for an os4 port, ask for it to be made open source....

Hi All-
I'm  with ksk.  When I had to make a fairly elaborate animation for some educational software I wrote, the package I ended up prerfering to use was Brilliance.  DP4's light box feature is special, but rapid page flipping in Briliance was actually more useful for fine-tuning the frames.  Even on my A4000/040 (25mhz) desktop DP4 dragged along poky-slow.

I liked Brilliance better for most paint and anim tasks.
