Ok, im warning you, take what i say with a grain of salt!

This is stupid! Stupid STUPID!

EA are never going to do this. And lets say that for some stupid reason they wanted to get back into the Amiga Market, do you think it would be with DPaint? And do you think we would want them to do it with DPaint?

Sorry, but it seems like a silly idea. If the petition was to "Release the source code as open source for DPaint" then i'd sign it and be "all for it". But to try and get THEM to port an old application with no market is insane.

I dont mean to be rude, but i can tell why anyone would think why they would port it. They're not going to.

Why would we want them to port it when, in the forum, bloodline showed us a screen shot of UberPaint under AROS and its open source. The whole conversation about the petition should have stop there! We have an open source DPaint program! Isnt that enough?

Sorry for my yelling and stuff... it just seems silly... Ohh and i've had a few now :)

We need an Automatic Petition Generator (APG). Maybe running on a Pegasos server running OpenBSD, with a database of all software companies who have ever been profitable, have seen an Amiga in an old movie or TV show, or have made something of note for Linux. This could save much wear and tear on public forum bandwidth and harrowing news item posting episodes could be avoided forever! ...The URL to the APG could be linked with a Petition of the Week/Weak banner.*

* only mildly humorous. sorry. fresh coffee tanker is making its way up the lake to solve the problem shortly.

DPaint for A1/OS4 in 5 easy steps.

1. Persuade 30-40 million of your friends to buy an AmigaOne (still a way behind the 52 million PS2's sold, but thats ok).

2. Donate a few million $ to Hyperion so that they can hire more coders and finish OS4.

3. With the money you made from the sales of the 40 million A1's (at AInc's $50 cut for each one that should make about 2 billion dollars), purchase EA.

4. Sack all the management who don't seem to understand that DPaint for Amiga is where the real money lies (forget Medal of Honor and Harry Potter games for PS2 and XBox), then retrain EA's in-house development teams so that they know AmigaOS inside out.

5. Cut back on the games development side of things.  Start a new EA division which converts old apps from a decade ago. And port DPaint IV to run on OS4.

Easy.

publishing something is one thing biut creating is another, you guys are sooooo LOL! :D

do u really think they produced all? , nah wake up coz they didnt..

bf1942 is made by our friends "the silents" aka Digital illusions and so on....
anyway this petetion, sure its kinda....ermm impossible and rather hmm?  but sure if someone would bother to update it from custom chip based to a ppc non custom board and then make it better than pp paint ,tvpaint, photgenics etc ?  sounds like a job that will take longer than os4 to me ;)  but still go for it...if EA wants to...then do it, i am sure it will be a product that atleast 90% of the users are fammiliar with + whom will buy the new wonder version.

cheers
Whats up with all the hate!

I'll hold my hands up, I signed.

It's mad though, we have some pretty good, I'll call them contenders for want of a better word. DPaint has been missing for a LONG time & would have so much ground to make up. With programs like Perfect Paint we should be fine.

I guess the main benefit would be the familiarity of the product, if people heard DPaint had returned for 2k, along with a new Amiga, public interest could be overwhelming.

I wonder if the source code even still exists.   ;-)

Why not petition to get Gimp on OS4?
