O.A.S.E Update: micro A1 to be shown working
« on: October 25, 2003, 02:45:08 AM »
"See some premieres at the OASE - MicroA1 G4 in Action! ATI Radeon & AmigaOS4 on the AmigaOne!

... A real world premiere is takeing place at the O.A.S.E. (Open Amiga Southeast Europe) show having a working AmigaOne Lite, now renamed to MicroA1, on public display the first time ever.

The (preliminary) MicroA1 specs as follows:
"

"# G4 7447 low power cpu up to 1.3 GHz (running 1.066MHz at the show)
# Radeon 7000 graphics chip with 32 MB video RAM on board (2xAGP)
# 100MBit Ethernet
# 2x USB1.1
# Serial / Parallel ports
# UDMA 100 IDE Controller
# 1 PCI slot (incl. Riser for 90° adapter)
# mini-ITX form faktor (170x170mm)

We will have Linux Debian running on the MicroA1 and we are pushing hard to get AmigaOS 4.0 running on the board until Saturday. Special thanks to Thomas Frieden for his ongoing work to make this possible.

The first time a Picasso96 Radeon driver will be shown on an AmigaOne under AmigaOS 4.0. Special thanks to Joshua B. Helm and Forefront Technologies.

AmigaOS 4.0 on the AmigaOne will also have working 3com ethernet drivers running thru the Roadshow TCP/IP stack and the Soundblaster Live! running a PowerPC native version of AHI.

AmigaOne XE G4/933MHz boards will be available at the show for a special OASE price of 849,- Euro (incl. 20% VAT). For current customers we will have live updates of their UBoot FlashROM chips.

For our MorphOS fans we will have two Pegasos machines at the show.

Another part of the show handles Retro Computing where Jens Schönfeld of Individual Computer will talk about the C= One. An actual version of the C= One board can be seen at the show.
With some luck, a working (!) C65 can also been seen there.

More Infos (and pictures) see: www.oase.at

The O.A.S.E. takes place this weekend, Saturday, October 25th in Graz/Austria.

I'll miss the "Lite" branding.  It set up the impression that we could achieve this level of integration without breaking a sweat.  ;-)

Hmm.. Those specs for the MicroA1 seems much lower than those mentioned here?

@mepmepmep

I would think that the specs above are for the preproduction board. The use of the word "prliminary" seems a bit misleading (probably an incorrect translation somewhere along the way).

It should be called the miniA1, because it's a mini-itx size and not micro(ATX) size. There seems to be no consistent graphic design/naming standard throughout this AmigaOne project, which could create confusion  :-?

But on AW you can read this from Alan Redhouse:

"The pre-production AmigaOne-Lite is now up and running and we will be sending samples out to selected developers to port/test drivers for the new hardware (RAID, gigabit ethernet, IEEE1394 etc) in early October. If you wish to participate in this program please email us at info@eyetech.co.uk. "

That was from Total Amiga 16, so it must have been written some time prior to its release. When was that?

This is confusing!!!  :-?  :-?

Hey! this AmigaOne is really small!
Do you think it fits on an Amiga CD32 or A600?

That's strange!

Eyetech previously said that the A1 Lite would have Gigabit Ethernet, RAID, etc, and that the pre-production boards with these specifications was manufactured and sent out to developers in the beginning of this month.

And now, some weeks later, neither the board, nor the mentioned specs has these features ...
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

Have you seen the photo of the MicroA1 near a CStorm?

@Takemehomegrandma

And?

This is most likely the first of the preproduction boards (like the one as shown on the soft3 website)
this does not mean that there are other boards out there.
It just might be that this is the only one that they've had time to write Linux drivers for.

And speking of something completely  else, it seems like the Micro ATX A! project is not cancelled http://www.ann.lu/comments2.cgi?show=1066985575&category=events&number=16#comment

Can someone from the Amiga.org staff confirm that Ben Hermans wrote this?

Yes but as I see in the specs it doesn't have a sound chip, so I wonder if I put a sound card (loosing my only pci slot :-/ ) if I will have problems fitting micro A1 on an AmigaCD32 case in height since the card goes vertical.
