MorphOS Officially Ready for IBM Technology
« on: October 09, 2003, 06:55:08 PM »
MorphOS also made it on the IBM website.

"MorphOS is a carefully crafted blend of new ideas with tried and true techniques, all based around the new microkernel, Quark. Inspired by the efficiency found in the original Commodore Amiga and its remarkable multitasking OS, MorphOS brings a whole new dimension to personal computers. "

Check it out here ...

Bill Buck and Racquel Velasco posted on this thread:

'What is really good is that when other operating systems run on the Pegasos we can submit them for the logo too for their packaging, websites, etc."

You can find the press-release on Morphos-news.de.

I'm really sorry but I can't let hypocracy like this lie. :-x

http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=44028

Notice that the certifcation is "Ready for IBM" in both cases and the membership level is the same according to the IBM page.

Care to explain Targhan??

Targhan's answer is here:

P.S.
Not saying that I agree with anything, just thought I'd include the link to it.  :-P

For me, at the moment, having these logos still doesn't mean a hell of a lot no matter who has it.

Only a Matter of time before we'll feast our eyes on a Pegasos III powered by a PPC 970 aka 'G5'!

@guys:

If you look at my more recent postings you will see that I had actually researched it further than just the web-stuff after it was COPIED to Amiga.org.  I had went to the trouble of investigating third parties who went through the trouble.

I will tell you this now, concerning what I learned then, a verification like this CAN be importan, BUT does not mean much BY ITSELF.  In other words, if the corner is turned and this little verification is FOLLOWED UP BY ACTION, then it is an important step in a process.  If it is obtained just for the sake of having it and nothing more, then it can mean very little.

In other words, this is a flag to watch for things to come, and not an end unto itself.  I learned that PRIOR to Genesi's involvement in this.  I *did* report that.

Yes, I did think it was a scam when I first wrote the article.  Then, I learned about it being a step in a process, and not one that is necissarily visible.  I made the changes to the original article month and months ago.  Again, I reiterate--if no followup action is taken to the "verification" then it *still* doesn't mean very much.  If, however, further actions *are* taken it can mean something.

As I said on ANN, this isn't an end, but a checkpoint.  The same thing *still* holds true for Mai too.
Regards,
Targhan

Could you please post links to these reports?

Will you be publically apologising to Mai for the initial report?

Why should he ???

The  cert is worth what it is worth (pretty much nothing), if and when
something is added on top of that, thats when things get interesting.
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

Oh,and about "hypocrits", there are more than enough people (hi Dave) who
did praise it back than, and are now trying to play it down .....

C'mon Kronos, at least try to come up with something of your own back.  Regurgitating what Targhan said is not adding anything to the discussion.

Let Dave answer himself.

What? By saying "it's only a webform"? I wonder where they got that idea :-?

Why do they need to play it down? Mai already has the "Ready for IBM" status.  It really is nowt to shout about, as it was back when Mai got it.

EDIT: Inflamotory remarks removed

Hands up, if a product has an IBM sticker on it, will you open your wallet quicker than if it weren't there?

For me personally this certificate is just as meaningless as an icecube-machine in Siperia.
I want to tell a short story of certificates.
Our company has this oh so much valued ISO 14001 environment certificate. I'll tell you how it went:

First the funny part, the company pays to have the certificate :)

Secondly, the company itself defines all rules and sets the standards. They can set the standard as low as they want and easily be doing "well balanced and standardised products" next 100 years.

Thirdly, in the first year there will be inspectors visiting over from the company who gives the certificate (in this case, Den Norske Veritas, www.dnv.com ). This is always known long time before it happens so you can bet your ass everything possible is made to make everything look good during the visit. In other words: cheating and lying in every aspect.
When they are gone all is back to normal.

The whole certificate system is a laugh. I don't know if the IBM has the same though.
