OS4 for pegasos what a BRILLIANT idea.

Genesi gets OS4.....they also get Amiga DE when it integrates into OS4.....which solves the current court case....and provides a common platform for developers to write software for both platforms, the Amiga community is no longer split into a red and blue camp and a unified effort to push the amiga into the next generation commences!

WHat a great solution...so where is the hangup?

Oh...thats right, Genesi dont want to pay for the AmigaOne license.

There's also the question of what happens to Morphos, alot of work has gone into it and i'm sure there are people who wouldnt want to see it on the sidelines.

Hey Ion where have you been?  We agreed to fund TWO DIFFERENT third party Resellers months ago...:-o

Skyraker, check this:

We are happy to have as many operating systems running on the Pegasos as possible!  Again, why the Dell not!  This in no way effects our commitment to MorphOS.  USERS should have the FREEDOM to use whatever OS they want on the systems they buy.  :-D

To steal a phase from Cecilia: the future is a big place!  (there IS plenty for everyone  ;-)  )

R&B

P.S. Hi Rogue  ...has anything really changed since our discussions in Cologne in December 2001?  :-)  Keep pressing ahead!!  Best wishes!

@bbrv

I've said it once and I'll say it again, I'll consider any kind of system that runs OS4.
So if you can get some kind of official ageement with  Hyperion
about porting OS4 to the PegII then I'll definetly start saving
up some cash to be sent your way.  :-)

Are you/Hyperion's programmers concentrating all efforts on OS4? Or are you'all also continuing on games programming?

We do have a small crew of people that don't work on OS 4, and these are working on games ports (Linux and AmigaOS). That doesn't apply to any of the outside

Are you'all planning on doing any games programming for the Pegasos system?

We don't do anything for a specific hardware platform. We work on AmigaOS, Linux and Mac. If a platform runs any of these, chances are that it can run our games. I guess that Linux/PPC versions will also run on Pegasos hardware.

If/When Pegasos has an AmigaOS 4 licence, it will be able to run our stuff. We are not planning to do anything with MorphOS.

back to your regularly scheduled programming...

Hehe, sorry to disappoint you, but I decided to take this day off. I did have precious little sleep in the last 72 hours ;-)

So you are paying a third party to get AmigaOne certification?
Please clarify this

We said we would help you....you, your brother and Ben were all sitting there at the table -- Gerald and Thomas too!  Think about it.

@bbrv

I'm not disputing that we had that talk...

I'm positively sure that Gerald (Carda) and Thomas (Knäbel) where not present...  We did talk with them at the show itself, later.

@Skyraker

You always seem to remember to mention there is no point doing this and that for a merely 600 units market, forgetting there is zero (==0) market for OS4 as we speak. By your logic, we should wait OS4 specific software to start when the OS is out and selling.. or am I completely wrong?

Silly me, was thinking porting for Pegasos2 could be started on using Pegasos1 hardware, which is afterall, quite the same as in Peg2...

- the non-standard hardware support. There has to be a certain amount of supported hardware - we're not going to sell it if it doesn't support at least a basic set of hardware to make it usable.

Are you speaking of the Zico spec here? :) :-D

@DCS

Perhaps I am being a bit negative.

To nitpick regarding os4 market.. it's got to be greater than zero.... some A1 units have indeed shipped....
