Withing the dource of the "Amiga Arena Anniversary Weeks",James Daniels the developer from Payback  makes a special offer possible.  You can order "Payback" for only 20 GBP,valid till 17.09.2003. Order is only possible direct from the http://www.apex-designs.net Apex Designs Homepage. That means send a mail to James Daniels with the subject "Amiga Arena 5 Anniversary Payback order".

Yes!! Payback is a great game!

I already own it but I would be willing to buy another copy if a MorphOS version was made. This should be VERY simple to do I think as it should only require AHI support.

At least that's the way it looks to me as a nonprogrammer:-D Well there is my offer James Daniels, I offer to buy a second copy if you make MOS support.

And actually could you imagine MOS *AND* TCP/IP multiplayer support for Payback? I could see Amiga get togethers becoming Payback lan parties:-)
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

Hello,

i have only one question.
Why wouldnt you buy the Amiga Version for your Pegasos?
I cant really understand why you need a extra MorphOS Version?
As i know you can play it on your Pegasos,so i play
it on my A4000/60,so speed can not be the only reason?

I dont know would there a big difference between
the AmigaOS version and a MorphOS version?

I think important is to support the developer!
And if you can get it for a lower price and can
used it on your machine,i think that would be
the only true point to buy it! ;-)

That is only my personal opinion!

In union we stand!

it matters where yourhead is at!

The only major roadblock is lack of AHI support.  Without AHI there is no audio.  I wouldn't mind a native MOS version, but I will buy an Amiga version if I can get sound (and everything else works of course. :-D )

According to the "updates" thing on the website, the 68k version is system legal as far as audio is concerned.  Does MorphOS not implement an audio.device?

We (MorphOS) users
Need AHI support for Payback... I have a 4000T I can buy it for.. but I wont buy anything Amiga software wise that wont run on my Peg itjust doesnt make sense. Believe me guys once you get a Pegasos your Classic Amiga pales in comparison!

I have no copy of Payback nor have I ever seen it more than couple
minutes so I can't comment it.. (hmm.. might be interetign game
though if itll run natively with good Gfx)

But (as general) what I have understood most of these 'sysytem legal'
games use audio device just to allocate hardware and then bang it
directly. There are no Classic compatible audio hardwre on pegasos
(nor is it coming) so AHI is necessary..

In the end.. I'd assume same will be case with Aone too (on OS4) so if
he'll interested on future sales it's high time to learn to use AHI.

If I understand the situation fully... There has been talk of implementing a dummy audio.device that reroutes calls to AHI, however it is not a priority as most software only use the audio.device to initialize the audio channels and then bangs the hardware directly to generate the actual audio.

Unfortuantly, that means all non-AHI software sit silent.  A bit like on a Draco I guess. :P  Perhaps this software would be supported on MOS running on Classic amiga's, I don't know.

It's a bit annoying actually, but then again I've got quite a lot of AHI-supporting software to play with including Alien Breed 3D II TKG (with patch).  :-D

I already have a copy of Payback too. What I'd like to see (besides AHI) Payback utilizing the raw horsepower the Pegasos offers. I'd gladly pay once again (or an upgrade price) for a nice new shiny MorphOS version.

It's a real nice and fun game :-) And till GTA3 it was far superior than it's predecessors. (subjective opinion)
