Duke Nukem 3D ported to AmigaOS and MorphOS
« on: July 25, 2003, 03:30:14 PM »
The Icculus.org version of Duke3D has been ported to AmigaOS 3.x and MorphOS.

There is a 68K version, which works on AGA/CGX/P96, and a MorphOS/Pegasos native version. Additionally, you need the Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition CD.

More info and downloads are available here.

Cool! I can't wait to try it out.

I only wish the Amiga version was for WarpOs/PPC too and not just 68k.

I mananged to borrow a copy of the game and try it. Neither the MOS or 68k versions of the game work on my Pegasos. I didn't try it on the Amiga yet, since I'd rather play it faster than 5 fps. :-P

As for the WOS version mentioned, it's likely that won't work here. So far all the Quake ports from the same author haven't worked for me either. :-(

We have tested the Game on Pegasos/G3-600/ATI Radeon. In fact, bifat has palyed the whole game on this configuration.
Seems, the game isn't the problem  8-)
And what quake? :-?   I've never done any quake-port...

Same here. I can get it to start by increasing the stack to 500000, but it isn't working properly. None of the animations work and the game won't start. This is using a Voodoo 3..

The MacOS port via Shapeshifter ran quite nicely actually for me. I don't remember measuring FPS, but it was quite playable.

A lot of people who've played both reckon the Mac version just wasn't as good as the DOS version. I don't know what was different, though, i've only played the DOS version.

@dante_oxyron

Excellent job.  It fly's on my Amithlon system.   (Probably a little to fast actually)

I don't think my poor A1200 is up to the task without a few more upgrades :)

Thanks!

Back in my day, we didn\'t have water. We only had Oxygen and Hydrogen, and we\'d just have to shove them together.

@amigaguy: at least, a positive reaction, thx  :-)

to the others: what should i say to comments like "it doesn't run"?  :-? Please, read the AMIGA.readme, and send me a Bugreport, including some details about your system and how duke crashes... ok?

It's not you I meant. The coder of GLQuakeWOS (Massimiliano Tretene) wants to do a WOS port of Duke3D too. I've nothing against the guy but none of his Quake ports ever worked on my machines (although they did work on VooDoo cards, and since Duke doesn't use 3D acceleration I have no reason to believe there'd be the same problem).

But if you want a bug report, there's nothing much I can say. Duke loads, it doesn't play a demo, shows the menu screen after a push of the spacebar then promptly freezes when you try to start a game. I have a Pegasos with Radeon too. I can confirm that it doesn't work for at least one other Pegasos/Radeon user too.

I hope Massimiliano Tretene does a WOS port... his GLQuake port worked great on my machine.
